We lost a good one this week.

Doug Pogany — “Dougie” to all of us — was far more than a former employee. He was a close friend for 28 years, and the face of EastCoat for a good decade or two. Many of you know that smile from our postcards, brochures, or our website.

Doug was an incredible fabricator, welder, mechanic, line painter, and all-around Mr. Fix-It — but more than that, he was a loyal friend and an even better human being. He did so much for us at EastCoat, and we truly wouldn’t be where we are today without him.

The last few years we didn’t see each other as much, but when we did, it was always the same Doug — the same smile, the same easy conversation, always asking about the family and the kids by name.

Anyone who’s spent time down at Lobster Landing has probably seen Doug with his dog Boomer, working his fishing boat, the F/V Kestrel — doing what he loved, the way he loved to do it.

Fair winds and following seas, buddy. You’ll be deeply missed. ⚓️🖤
