Last week, our owner Aaron Wavra had the honor of being invited by Agricultural Utilization Research Institute - AURI to Breezy Point Resort in Brainerd to speak at the MN Soybean Research & Promotion Council Future of Soy Summit, serving on the "Driving Soy-Based Preservation Product Adoption" panel in front of county, regional, and state soybean farmer-leaders.

Aaron connected the dots with a great analogy โ Roof Maxx is to Shingles as Leather Conditioner to Leather. He explained, asphalt shingles fail because the oils dry out of them and they become brittle. Roof Maxx puts those oils back, similar to conditioning a dried-out pair of leather boots. Flexibility comes back, life is greatly increased, and the roof now carries a 5-year transferable warranty. Apply it up to three times and you're adding up to 15 years to a roof you already own, at roughly 80% less than replacing it.

This is where his presentation stopped being a product talk and starts being a homeowner problem. Aaron shared the insurance challenges Roof Maxx dealers, homeowners, and large property owners are seeing across our territory - the new reality of self insuring.
Aaron's presentation and resulting questions are starting the conversation in Minnesota on how we can help insurance companies recognize maintenance as a risk reduction strategy.
For example, the state of Florida already has a framework for it. Under Florida Statute 627.7011, a homeowner with a roof 15 years or older can have an authorized inspector certify five or more years of remaining useful life, and the insurer can't refuse to renew based on roof age alone. Homeowners are choosing Roof Maxx maintenance because of it! The legislative work is not done; a 2026 bill, SB 808, would have written roof coating and restoration systems explicitly into that statute. It died in committee back in March, but the idea isn't going away.
