Good evening! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend celebrating 250 Years of Freedom. 🇺🇸

Here are the desert rose seedlings I potted last week. Today, I planted another 255 seeds, and I’m excited to watch them grow!

I also have some very special seeds on the way, and I can’t wait to share them with you when they arrive.

Wishing everyone a relaxing Sunday evening and a happy, productive week ahead!

My oldest and biggest Desert Rose
These are deciduous in zones 8a & 8 b if not kept under grow lights.
This one was in my utility room all winter with no water. All leaves fell off and I forgot to take it outside early in the spring. Hubby took it out a few weeks ago and it’s already full of leaves and should bloom soon.

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “What kind of soil do you use for your Desert Roses?”

My go-to mix is:
🌱 ½ Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix
🌱 ½ Miracle-Gro Potting Mix

This combination has worked perfectly for me in our area. If we get a lot of rain, the mix dries out faster and doesn’t stay soggy, which is important for Desert Roses.

I know some growers prefer bonsai soil or other specialty mixes, and those can work well too. However, they can be expensive, and personally, I haven’t found them to be any better than this simple, affordable mix.
