In response to the tragic event involving the Chicago Police Department this past Saturday, blue ribbons are now available for pickup at Firewater Saloon.

We encourage our community to stop by, pick one up, and join us in showing support, love, and solidarity for the officers, their families, and the entire Chicago Police Department community during this heartbreaking time. 💙

The Dunning and Harlem Avenue Little Italy communities are kicking off the year with a spotless start following a highly successful neighborhood "Clean and Green" initiative.

Over the course of a few hours, dedicated neighbors and members of the Harlem Avenue Little Italy Business Association worked tirelessly to clear debris along Harlem Avenue between Belmont and Irving Park Road.

Their collective effort left the neighborhood looking beautiful and resulted in an entire pickup truck bed filled to the brim with trash.

This cleanup was a true testament to local teamwork and shared leadership. HALIBA President Jason Qu***ia successfully rallied and coordinated the participants to maximize their impact.

Ensuring the crew was properly equipped, Brandon Folino and Gino Bartucci worked closely with Alderman Nicholas Sposato, who generously supplied all the necessary brooms, shovels, and gloves for the volunteers.

After the hard work was finished, the group enjoyed a well-deserved celebration at Pasta Fresh. Anthony Bartucci and John Panvino organized a fantastic post-cleanup gathering to feed the hungry volunteers, which featured delicious pizzas kindly provided by Trattoria Porretta Ristorante, Pizzeria, and Catering.

The revitalization of the area is also being championed by major HALIBA supporters like Ron Onesti. As President of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame his ongoing dedication is paving the way for the Hall of Fame to open on Harlem Avenue in 2026, alongside a brand new restaurant and cafe.

Thank you to everyone who picked up a broom or served a slice of pizza.

Keep watching Harlem Avenue, because there are truly great things on the horizon for our community.

Local Support Strong as ‘Get Behind the Vest’ Event Raises $123K for Chicago Police Department

CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s latest "Get Behind the Vest" fundraiser was a resounding success this week, drawing widespread community support and raising an impressive $123,000.

Hosted by Alderman Bill Conway, the event brought local leaders and residents together for a crucial, life-saving cause: purchasing replacement bulletproof vests for Chicago Police Department officers.

The initiative resonates deeply across the city, particularly in Northwest Side neighborhoods that are proudly home to many of Chicago's rank-and-file officers and their families.

Because police vests need to be replaced every five years to remain effective, ensuring that officers have up-to-date protective gear is a continuous and vital effort.

Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling was on hand for the event, drawing praise from attendees. Described by organizers as a "phenomenal man for the position," Snelling's presence highlighted the unity at the event.

According to officers on the job, the Superintendent continues to enjoy strong, widespread support from the rank and file—a critical asset for departmental morale and leadership.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation does extensive work for the CPD family, extending far beyond the vest program to support the families of fallen and catastrophically injured officers.

How You Can Help?

Organizers are encouraging the community to keep the momentum going. Residents who want to help protect those who protect our neighborhoods are asked to donate today.
