🚨 NOTICE: SEWER SMOKE TESTING- GREENTOWN LOOP ROAD AREA

The Oak Hill Sanitary Board will be conducting smoke testing of the sanitary and storm sewer system in the area.

Smoke testing helps identify leaking sewers, faulty connections, lost manholes, and places where stormwater may be entering the sanitary sewer system.

🏠 Residents may see smoke coming from sewer vents during testing. If smoke enters your home through a faulty sewer connection, do not be alarmed. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, and creates no fire hazard.

💧 Residents are asked to pour water down ALL drains in their home or building before testing to ensure sewer traps are full.

For questions or concerns, contact the Oak Hill Sanitary Board at 304-469-9541, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.

Saturday homeowner check-in 🔧

What's the one plumbing problem in your house you've been saying “I'll deal with that later” about?

🚽 Toilet that runs
💧 Faucet that drips
🚿 Drain that's getting slower
🔥 Hot water that doesn't last like it used to
👀 Or something you're just choosing not to investigate yet

No judgment. We've probably seen worse. 😂

Ever hear your toilet kick on when nobody has used it? 👀That's usually not your house being haunted. 😂 A toilet that ran...

Ever hear your toilet kick on when nobody has used it? 👀

That's usually not your house being haunted. 😂

A toilet that randomly runs or refills can be losing water into the bowl, and all of that wasted water adds up.

Sometimes it's a simple fix. Other times there's more going on inside the tank.

If you've got a toilet that won't quit talking to you, give Moline Plumbing Co. a call or text at 304-712-1146. 🔧

Don't wait for a plumbing emergency to think about your pipes! A quick flush of your water heater once a year removes sediment buildup, extends its lifespan, and keeps your hot water running efficiently. Need a hand with routine maintenance or inspection? What to do if water is starting to get in your house 🌧️

With how heavy these storms can get, a lot of folks deal with water where it shouldn't be. If you're dealing with a flooded basement or rising water right now, here are a few things to keep in mind to keep yourself safe:

1. ⚡️🔌Don't walk into standing water if it's near outlets: If the water is getting close to your basement outlets, extension cords, or the breaker box, stay out. Electricity and water are a dangerous mix.
2. 👀 Find your main shut-off: If water is actively coming in from a broken pipe or a major plumbing issue, find your main water valve (usually near where the line comes into the front foundation) and shut it off.
3. ⚠️Kill the water heater: If your basement is flooding, turn off the gas or flip the breaker to your water heater so it doesn't get ruined or cause a gas hazard.
4. 💧Check your sump pit: If your pump is running constantly, look to see if the float switch is just stuck on a piece of debris. But if the pump has given out completely and water is still rising, don't mess with it—get to safety first.

☀️ Once the storm clears and you can actually get down there to see what needs fixed, let us know if you need a hand with a failed pump or a backed-up line.

Stay safe out there!
