✨ Elevating the entryway in Grande Dunes today.
We love working in Grande Dunes! Just finished installing a beautiful set of new Coach Lights on a home overlooking the golf course.
When you live in a community this stunning, the details matter. Swapping out faded or dated outdoor fixtures for crisp, modern lanterns instantly changes the look of your home—especially at night.
🔹 Pro Tip: We recommend using "Warm White" (2700K or 3000K) bulbs for that inviting, estate-like glow rather than the harsh blue of daylight bulbs.

⚡ Sunday Tip from your local Electrician: Check your "B**b Lights"

Hi neighbors, Paul Loftis with Loftis Lighting here. Since it’s a rainy day for house chores, here’s a quick safety tip you can check right now:

Many older flush-mount ceiling lights (often called "B**b Lights") are rated for low wattage bulbs (like 60W or less).

The Hazard: When folks put in those cheap, hot-running LED bulbs, the heat gets trapped against the ceiling insulation. Over time, this literally bakes the wiring inside your ceiling until the plastic cracks.

Your Sunday Check:

Turn off the power to the fixture at your breaker panel.

Carefully remove the glass cover.

Do the wires look brittle, discolored, or do you smell a slight "fishy" odor? That smell is the insulation breaking down and heating up.

If you see or smell any of these red flags, it's time to replace that fixture immediately.

These plugs are supposed to make life easier, but the poor craftsmanship is making me crazy. Too much extra stuff hanging around. You'll never cram a device in here. Not impressed at all.

Don't skimp on outlets when you're renovating! They're cheap to install now and you'll always find a use for them. Plan for your receptacles, switches and exhaust fans.

Don't do it like this! There's a much better (and cleaner) way to secure this. It's all about running it down to the line set, tie wrapping it, and running it back up. Trust me, it'll look much better!

Hallway plug placement matters: electrical codes require one every 10+ feet. Also, that red wire? It's a telltale sign of interconnected smoke detectors, crucial for bedroom hallway safety.

Receptacles must be within 24 inches of the countertop. Appliance cords are usually 2 feet long, so outlets need to be 4 feet apart. This ensures homeowners can plug in blenders and other appliances anywhere on the counter. Are your outlets properly spaced?

Planning a kitchen island? Wire it before the walls are up! This is the moment to install plugs and junction boxes. Don't wait—it's much harder later. Avoid code violations and future headaches. Get it done now.

A family checks out a small space. Will they love the tiny house life? Nightstands, extra plugs—it's all about the details. See if this family can envision themselves living small.

Placing electrical boxes? Watch out for screws on the side—the code book prohibits it. Plus, that sconce placement could be problematic once the wall plate is on. Details that matter for safe electrical work.
