The schedule has been pretty busy over here. Between covered deck builds with more work to come for that customer, and a sheetrock job thrown in the mix as well.

Good evening. Something a little different from me tonight.

Anyone interested in a library style ladder? I built it for a customer to use as access to their attic space. Unfortunately they changed their.

Their loss. Your gain.

106 inches tall 17 1/2 inches wide. Built out of 2x6 pine. The treads are all mortised in, glued and screwed. Very solid. $100.

This is raw pine sanded to 120. Blank canvas. Finish how you want. Or I can finish it for you for a fee.

Good morning. A little PSA this morning. If you are looking into buying an older home, or maybe you have bought an older home. If you have aluminum facia, especially if the house was flipped, you may be in for a suprise.

I am currently working on building a covered deck/porch. In order to attach the roof to this enclosed porch and have everything run in the same plain i had to remove the facias. I was not expecting to find a big mess. As I went to start removing the first piece I noticed there were a few missing nails. (This by its self isn't that big of a deal). With my fingers I pulled down on the bottom of the facia and four nails fell to the ground along with, well, rotted wood chunks.

There was also vinyl vented soffit covering up the original solid soffit. More aluminum covering up some trim.

So. Quick flips are not always done right. Not saying they are always done wrong either. If you have aluminum facia, or vented soffit. Take a look. If you can reach your facia, try and see if the bottom lip moves easy. Look for any missing nails, and if the bottom lip does move can you finish pulling the nail out with your fingers. If you have vented soffit, take a look at your roof. If your roof is vented, especially if its shingled you will notice. The caps on the ridge of your roof will stand out off the shingles as if there is something under it. That is because the materials used to vent the roof hold the caps off so are can escape. If youe roof isn't vented and you have vented soffits it doesnt mean you have rotted soffits, however it could mean it was used to cover it to make it look better instead of repainting it. Now if in the gable ends you see some vents, one on each side, then your vented soffits absolutely have a purpose.

Good morning everyone. There sure were a bunch of people watching the blueberry festival parade in Wilton Maine yesterday.

Anyone warch the tv show Dexter......??.

Just me.?. Maybe.

Anyway setting up to rip the ceiling out of this kitchen and I started thinking " I wonder if Dexter listens to music when he puts up his plastic, like do."... lol

Take the time to cover everything possible when doing demolition. I promise, its still quicker than the hours of clean up you'll have if you dont.

Good morning. I hope everyone is doing good.

Wanted to share this fun little project I just wrapped up yesterday.

This is a little play structure for kids. I was asked to take the original structure, which is a 6x6 platform posted roughly 6' up in the air, and make it safe for kids. As well as enclosing the bottom to add a little play area below.

So I added some bracing. Extended the posts on top of the platform to add a roof. Built the roof and added some railings. Enclosed the bottom with some T1-11 and threw in a couple windows they had kicking around.

Now that thats all done I cant wait to find out how it looks after they do all the finishing touches.

They are going to be attaching a rock climber and slide to the structure. As well as installing the roofing and getting it all painted up.
