Restoring a little piece of Norfolk history.

This project is on the old Legion building, now serving as a warehouse for Magnolias Home Decor and Design. The brick had taken on years of water damage, so we removed failed areas, cleaned things up, and rebuilt the surface with proper repair work and surface bonding cement.

Proud to help bring new life back to an old building in our community.

Day one progress on a restoration project here in Norfolk.

This building has seen a lot of years, a lot of weather, and a lot of water damage. Today was about starting the process the right way: grinding down the damaged surface, cleaning it up, removing failed brick, repairing what needed replaced, then applying bonding adhesive and the first coat of surface bonding cement.

It’s not finished yet. This first coat still needs rubbed down, cleaned up, and followed with a final coat so everything is smooth and even.

But this is the part of restoration most people never see.

This is the old Legion building in Norfolk, now being used as a warehouse for Magnolia’s Home Decor and Design. We’re proud to help bring some strength and life back to a historic building while it serves a new local business.

Restoration takes work.

Sometimes the work leaves you covered in dust, but that’s part of the deal.

Grinding, cleaning, rebuilding, showing up, and doing the work right. There’s something good about getting a little dirty when you’re building something you believe in.

It is scary to take a risk on yourself, because the moment you do, you stop hiding behind “someday.” You start putting real weight on your own name, your own work, your own decisions.

But that fear doesn’t mean stop. It usually means it matters.

Do it anyway.

Not recklessly. Not blindly. But faithfully. One clean move at a time. Send the email. Price the job. Make the call. Show up Wednesday morning. Build the system. Keep the books cleaner. Trust that the version of you who has survived this much is allowed to bet on himself now.

That’s not arrogance.

That’s stewardship.

LEGACY HAS ROOTS. 🌳

No brick. No block. No mortar this weekend.

Just a couple guys, a lift, some saws, and a whole lot of tree. 😂

My buddy took on this job, and I’ve been jumping in to help him get it across the finish line. It’s turned into a bigger project than either of us probably expected.

This weekend we finally got one tree completely down and made some serious progress on the other. We took it as far as our equipment would allow—now we need a bigger saw to finish the job.

And somewhere in the middle of all that cutting, I started thinking about Legacy.

Trees are a pretty incredible picture of it.

What you see above the ground is only possible because of the roots underneath it.

Years of growth.
Storms survived.
Season after season of putting down deeper roots.

Eventually, what started small becomes something that takes some serious work to move.

Maybe that’s what we’re trying to build too.

Not just a masonry company.

Something deeply rooted in Faith, Family, and Hard Work that grows beyond us and leaves something behind for the people who come next.

And sometimes Hard Work simply means showing up when a buddy has a massive tree and could use another set of hands. 😂🪚🌳

Family has always meant more to us than just a word on a list of core values. ❤️

It’s part of the reason Legacy exists.

There’s something special about watching the next generation grow up. Years ago, I helped take care of this little girl’s mom when she was a baby. Now her daughter just turned one, and seeing her running around in a Legacy hat feels a little full-circle.

That’s what legacy means to me.

It’s not just the buildings we leave standing. It’s the people we love, the kids we pour into, the families we care for, and the foundation we’re building for generations we may never get to see.

Faith. Family. Hard Work.

Those aren’t marketing words. They’re what we want this company—and our lives—to be built on.

And apparently, the Legacy hat looks pretty good on the next generation. 😂❤️

Sometimes the smallest jobs carry a bigger story. 🧱

We got a call from a local roofing company after one of their guys accidentally caught this chain and damaged the brick column.

Normally, it’s a pretty straightforward repair.

But this house has a story.

The homeowner’s mom recently passed away, and the family has been working to get her home ready to sell. With an open house coming up, they wanted to get this damaged column taken care of quickly.

We got the call, made room in the schedule, and a couple days later we were there.

About an hour of work.
A few bricks removed.
A few new ones laid.
A little cleanup and an acid wash still to come.

Nothing huge.

But I’ve been thinking lately that Legacy isn’t always about building something new.

Sometimes it’s about taking care of what someone else built.

Sometimes it’s repairing a small piece of a home filled with somebody else’s memories so that another family can eventually begin making memories of their own.

One chapter closes. Another begins.

And somewhere in between, we get the privilege of putting a few bricks back where they belong.

That’s the kind of work we’re proud to put our name on.

It’s not just laying block. 🧱

Most people will look at the finished wall and never think twice about the cuts along the top.

But there’s a reason this saw has been getting a workout.

The front of this building sits roughly a foot higher than the back, creating the pitch needed for the roof to shed water. That means our walls can’t simply end at the same elevation.

We have to build a rake into them—measuring and cutting individual block so the top of the wall follows the slope of the roof.

Cut by cut. Block by block.

When it’s finished, most people will never notice any of it.

And that’s kind of the point.

Good craftsmanship makes complicated things look simple.

The finished product might just look like a wall. But behind it are hundreds of measurements, cuts, decisions and details that have to come together correctly.

Legacy is built in the details nobody sees.

The tools nobody talks about. 🧱

When people think about masonry, they think about a mason’s trowel and level.

But I walked past these at the end of the day and thought there was a story here.

Shovels. A scraper. A push broom.

Nothing glamorous. But some of the most important tools on the job.

Masonry is messy. Mortar falls. Block gets cut. Debris piles up. And while the finished wall gets all the attention, somebody has to do the work underneath it—keeping the ground clean, stocking the masons and preparing the way for the next course.

That’s true of more than masonry.

A legacy isn’t only built by the work people see. It’s built by being willing to do the work nobody notices.

Every role matters. Every tool has a purpose. Every person on the crew contributes to what eventually stands.

Faith. Family. Hard Work.
