Phase 2 at Superior Wash is complete. 🧱💪

For this phase, the owner wanted us to skim coat several areas of the building to help create a more uniform look before the new coat of paint goes on.

Skim coating sounds simple from the outside, but when you’re working against old materials, old paint, existing coatings, new block, and patched areas — it becomes a process.

First, you have to grind and prep the old surfaces.
Then comes the bonding agent.
Then the first coat.
Then the rub down to even everything out.
Then the second coat to polish it up and get the wall ready for its final finish.

It takes patience. It takes detail. It takes care.

These walls are now cleaned up, strengthened, and ready to carry the legacy of Superior Wash into its next life cycle.

Next up — Phase 3: rebuilding the kiosk areas and restoring the trash enclosure.

Then on to the next.

Here’s a strong Legacy Masonry caption — honest, gritty, and professional without sounding like you’re complaining:

Last block laid at Superior Wash today. 🧱💪

This project was a much heavier lift than expected. What started as roughly 1,080 block turned into nearly 1,770 block. What we thought would be around 5 yards of grout turned into 17+ yards. What was projected as a 3-week job became closer to 5 weeks as the scope continued to evolve.

But that’s masonry. You adapt. You solve problems. You keep building.

This was a small but mighty crew — several guys newer to the trade, led by my brother Travis, who brings 17 years of masonry experience to the wall every day. Through long days, weekends, layout changes, grout work, cuts, wall adjustments, and plenty of unexpected challenges, the crew stuck with it and brought Superior Wash to a whole new level.

This was by far our most challenging project to date, but it also proved what Legacy Masonry is built on:

Door got replaced and the block above came down with it. We stepped in, filled it back up, and beat the rain.

Yeah, the colors don’t match (yet)… trust the process. We’ve got a plan to bring it all together.

From broken to built for generations. 🧱

This basement started with deterioration—old brick that couldn’t stand the test of time. The new homeowners were told it needed to be replaced… so we got to work.

We tore it out and rebuilt it the right way—solid 8” CMU, strong, straight, and made to last.

At Legacy Masonry, it’s more than just walls. It’s about giving families a foundation they can trust… something they can build their future on. 💪

Today, our team had the opportunity to jump in and serve alongside Lincoln Hygiene Network, helping unload and organize four pallets of hygiene products that will go directly to people in need. Huge respect to the work they do day in and day out to care for our community. 🤝🧼

It’s been a minute since we last posted—but the work hasn’t stopped. 🧱🔥

Over the past month, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Fangman Masonry out of Greenwood, NE to help get a brick project at a Speedee Mart in Seward off the ground, and then lend a hand in Underwood, IA to help carry a 12” block job across the finish line.

We weren’t hired for either job—but when a neighbor in the trade needs support, Legacy shows up. That’s how this craft—and this industry—stays strong.

It was a privilege working alongside the crew at Fangman Masonry. Solid leadership, skilled craftsmen, and a true passion for the masonry trade. Respect all around. 🤝

🎄 Christmas Eve Gratitude 🎄

As we slow down and reflect this Christmas Eve, we’re incredibly thankful for the people and partnerships that make Legacy Masonry possible.

We’re grateful for our suppliers—like Platte Brick Supply—who support us day in and day out. And we’re deeply thankful for opportunities to be part of meaningful projects, like the gym addition at St. Paul Lutheran School, where craftsmanship, care, and faith came together to create something lasting.

To hear that a space we helped build is being used, appreciated, and blessed means more than we can put into words. We truly believe every project is bigger than brick and mortar—it’s about people, purpose, and doing the work the right way.

🏠 Another project rescued + finished the right way.

A homeowner ran into one of our guys and shared a frustrating story — they hired a masonry company to fix foundation issues… the company did part of the job, got paid, and never came back.

Within 24 hours, we showed up, assessed the situation, laid the final course, and plastered the area to reinforce the foundation and seal things up. 💪🔥

Grateful to help bring this small winter project across the finish line — keeping the home insulated, protected, and critter-free.
