The level of collaboration and heart it takes to build a structure collectively, is one of the most beautiful parts about it.

From the beginning stages to the end, I have valued our team with the highest respect for their dedication, creativity and skills.

I am consistently grateful to be able to teach and share the knowledge of Natural Building with others.

We’re finally getting around to sharing some moments from our last Earthen Builds workshop.

It’s always an amazing experience to teach people how to build with Cob. A skill they can walk away with and have throughout their life.

Hobbit Cobbin, Day 34

The last day of the workshop.

It’s been an amazing ride for everyone involved. Most of the build has been completed with some agreed upon final details for our experienced host to finish.

There will be future updates to come from this build, that we will share over time.

Details include:
-The succulent growing medium that will go on the living roof.
-Small second coat plastering details.
-The door installation.
-The final Earthen floor.

This was a very large project for the amount of students we had and I am very proud of all we were able to accomplish in these past 6 weeks.

Only 1 more day before the workshop is over!

Today we focused on:

-Sheathing finished
-Facia
-Sifting for fine plaster
-Final plaster details

It’s been a beautiful ride for everyone. We said goodbye to another workshop attendee today. This is usually the hardest part of the workshop…slowly saying goodbye to everyone. So many great, lasting memories and work done.

The team decided they wanted to work this Saturday to get as much done as possible before the end of the workshop.

Our host had originally insisted that we have weekends off for the majority of the build, but everyone was eager to continue.

It’s been so nice watching the roof slowly curve around the edges.
