Workforce development is not something you talk about, it is something you do.

Today, Isaiah is learning the construction trades through the Essex County On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program while working alongside our structural team on the restoration of a nearly 260-year-old building in Newark's Central Ward.

As we carefully underpin foundations, place concrete, install rebar, and stabilize a structure that has settled over generations, Isaiah is gaining real-world experience that cannot be taught from a textbook alone.

When we first became involved with this building in 2021, we saw more than aging walls and failing foundations. We saw an opportunity to preserve history, serve the community, and invest in people.

Every day on this project is a reminder that restoration is about more than buildings. It is about creating opportunities, transferring knowledge, and helping the next generation develop skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

At BENH, we believe in restoring communities one project, one person, and one opportunity at a time.

We are not just rebuilding a historic structure, we are helping build future leaders in the trades.

Lately, the enemy has been coming for me.

And every time I wanted to explain, defend, or fear what was rising against me, my spirit kept answering with two words:

BUT GOD.

1 Samuel 7 reminds us that while the enemy was advancing, “BUT THE LORD thundered…”

That is my testimony.

My life is not just a story of battles.
It is a series of divine interruptions.

But God thundered.
But God covered.
But God defended.
But God remembered.
But God made a way.

And now I understand: I am not just surviving seasons — I am moving from Ebenezer moment to Ebenezer moment.

“Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

And if He helped me then, He will help me again.
