KaN Landscape Design establishment is the result of a strong partnership of two driven Landscape architecture alumni of the L. Karine Duteil was previously involved with the Hudson and Pacific Designs- Landscape Architecture firm, upstate NY, working on projects of various scales and scopes as
Principal Designer. Among them, the master plan for Bear Mountain, in NY, Depew Park in Peekskill, and C

entral Park in Prague. Nadej Hocini has extensive educational background in Architecture, Urban Planning, and the Arts. She has been working with Billie Cohen Ltd landscape design Studio, whose firm is recognized for beautiful, durable, ecologically sensitive designs, with projects ranging from parks, schools, and playgrounds, to community-oriented spaces. Hocini has worked successfully with Community initiatives such as New Yorkers for Parks and the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance, in designing revitalization projects combining environmental education and demonstration; her commitment and understanding that educational and recreational needs can work in symbiosis with ecologically sound interventions are well expressed in her design capabilities. Joining efforts and visions, the joint venture endeavors to combine Eurocentric design concepts and American best practice standards to complete designs that are both harmonious and utterly practicable to the specific site characteristics. From site assessment to post construction, the firm is environmentally committed. KaN revendicates the use of sustainable materials, ecological approach to planting, water efficient landscapes, and wildlife habitat restoration while assuring economic feasibility and aiming for beautiful and sensible landscape design.

should be recognized as a collective healing process to address climate anxiety 💚

Share Your Thoughts on the Preferred Design for the Midtown Linear Park — Survey Closes Soon!

Over the past several months, hundreds of community members have shared ideas, priorities, and creative thinking that have guided the design process. Building on everything we heard, the Project Design Team has developed a Preferred Design that brings together the most supported elements into one cohesive vision for the new Community Space.

While the design reflects the community’s goals and priorities, it remains conceptual — and we’d like your input one more time before moving forward.

Your feedback is essential. It only takes a few minutes to complete the survey.

View the design boards and share your thoughts through a short online survey. Every response helps refine the final layout, programming, and overall experience of the new park.

We were so moved last night to be part of this thoughtful event & be the grant recipient of this beautiful truly democratic endeavor that is .common.futures

with - I cried all of the tears last night watching the projects that received funding last night from Kingston Common Futures, a deeply community focused, managed, driven and intentioned program that utilized community members in the most beautiful way! From mentors, to developers of the fund program, to decision makers, application readers and SO much more.

It was an evening well spent and I am so grateful for all that happens in Kingston, especially when ego ain’t got a thang to do with it. They focused on so much, from our relationship to money, justice srojns language (as the US is NOT a mono-lingual country)societal & structural and personal power dynamics.

Thank you for inviting me to be witness. I would applaud twice to all that you’ve done and will do!

Join the Urban Forester for a guided 1.5-hour tour of the new tree plantings at Post Office Park on Saturday, September 6 at 10am!

With 50 trees on the site, learn about tree species, tree history, and the benefits trees provide to birds, pollinators, and our community.

The tour will conclude with an optional 30-minute weeding blitz to remove small weeds around the tree planting beds to help with their growing needs.

Please bring water, sun/rain protection, and questions about trees!

Gardening gloves will be available for up to 20 people, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own.
