Creating a rooftop meadow above DUMBO 🌾

Layer by layer, we’re trading hard edges for grasses, pollinator plants, and movement — building a landscape that feels a little more wild and a little less city.

There’s something special about watching a meadow take shape beneath the bridges and above the streets.

Every flower has its own language, and this one felt like a conversation.

• Allium — Unity, patience, and prosperity. Their floating spheres bring structure and wonder.

• Sweet Pea — Gratitude and appreciation. Delicate and fleeting, they remind us to savor beauty while it lasts.

• Dahlia — Inner strength, resilience, and creativity. Bold without overwhelming the composition.

• Scabiosa Pods — Transformation and the beauty found in every stage of life.

• Nigella Pods — Harmony and connection. Intricate details that reward a closer look.

• Waxflower — Enduring love and lasting bonds. Small flowers with a quiet presence.

• Mountain Laurel — Perseverance, strength, and grounding. Woven throughout the arrangement, it acts as the thread that connects the other flowers—creating a foundation for all the movement, texture, and drama above.

The alliums may catch your eye first, but the mountain laurel is the quiet anchor that holds the story together.

Custom IPE fencing and decking helped define separate spaces for dining, grilling, and a backyard bocce court—all within a relatively compact footprint.

One of the things I love most about Brooklyn gardens is that they don’t need to be large to feel generous. A well-designed outdoor space creates room to gather, entertain, and enjoy a little privacy in the middle of the city.

This Cobble Hill garden started as a largely unused space with a single tree and little structure.

The goal was to create a relaxed garden room for dining, lounging, and entertaining while keeping the space simple and timeless.

We added gravel, layered planting, pottery, and multiple seating areas to create a garden that feels much larger than its footprint.
