2023 Cert. Arborist for ‘NYC Congestion Pricing Plan’ aka NYC CBD* TOLL PLAN Here am overseeing excavation for a ‘toll gantry’ foundation. When locations are in tree root zones, hand-excavation is required by NYC Parks Forestry. While the Plan is controversial among Tri-State residents/entities, I signed on to preserve involved trees and make them look better than ever after clearance pruning, needed most of the time.

Chinese Witchhazel (Hamamelis mollis) in bloom 3.14.23. Fort Tryon Park, NYC. Distinct from our native Common Witchhazel, Hamamelis virginiana, which blooms in Late Fall. The leaves and bark of both produce the well-known astringent.

Extreme Arboriculture. Extreme Inspection. In Carroll Gardens Brooklyn for emergency sewer line repair, crew has to dig 10' down (by hand to preserve roots) to tunnel beneath 40' tree to connect to sewer line.

Seeing root structure was educational since depths observed defied what is taught or read in textbooks and professional journals.

The massive vine on back wall here is a Climbing Hydrangea, one of the most stateliest of vines. It takes a very long time to get this size and flower so well. While not a native plant per direction going forward for this garden, one would be a fool to remove it.
