Principal Nic Buccalo has been selected to the Town of Kent, CT Architectural Review Board.

Kent is a jewel in western Connecticut for its historical charm, embrace of contemporary art and architecture, and beautiful landscape. It is hoped that we can help preserve this charm through thoughtful growth, as change is inevitable, as well as make the functional process easier to understand and follow.

Philip Johnson and John Burgee's unorthodox and arresting design for the Lipstick Building, a thirty-four-story ellipse-shaped tower sheathed in bands of red-polished granite and stainless steel, gets its name from the telescoping upper floors that create a dynamic effect instantly likened to a lipstick emerging from its canister.

Philip Johnson’s Museum of Television and Radio is a striking success of Postmodernism’s revival of tradition and classicism: its 16-story limestone façade features turrets and a small pediment above a rounded arch at street level and is capped with four matching turrets on the tower above, a respectful and sculptural Postmodern form.

New blog post which takes a close look at the 4 types of bathrooms (Simple, Adult, High-End and Luxury), and what it takes to achieve each one. This is a thorough examination that provides a checklist of each bathroom item needed to achieve each level of design. Enjoy and hope it helps.

It’s been 30 years since 1993 and the launch of my business. Since then I have had the privilege to work with so many wonderful people, on so many diverse projects in so many different places around the world.

In NYC I’ve really enjoyed helping homeowners navigate their ideas, NYC zoning, their budget and generally, just helping people whether it resulted in a project or not. Believe it or not, I am looking forward to the next 30 years 🎈

I’ve studied and written on most of these buildings, being able to find work and live in Rome after securing a job while visiting the Plazzo Massimo. Fortunately I knew that the Cornell program was located inside and staying at a hostel across the street made it very convenient to ask. The Cornell director said he had a opening in his office, and my 2 week vacation lasted another 6 months.

This was more or less the state the Victory was in, before I proposed putting the stoop back and redesigning the interior from 42nd all the way through to 43rd street with its loading and backstage functions. What a huge victory for Times Square this project was and still is.
