Should every AI bot be blocked?

AI crawlers collect web content, while AI agents can search, use functions, and interact with web services on behalf of users.

This makes it harder to decide which automated traffic to allow or block. Blocking all AI traffic can restrict legitimate access, while allowing it without controls can lead to excessive or unintended activity.

Security teams need to consider who is sending the traffic, what it is accessing, and how it behaves. Even requests from legitimate AI agents still need to be checked for application-level threats.

Our latest tech blog looks at how AI crawlers and agentic bots affect web security and how bot management and WAF rules can help manage these risks.

🎉On September 2, Penta Security joined the Partner Spotlight session at Amazon Web Services (AWS) EPL Hub Korea as a speaker.

We shared our experience with Emerging Partners beginning their AWS partner journey, including key turning points in building our AWS Marketplace business, practical lessons for growth, and insights gained while expanding into global markets.

The event was an opportunity for partners to learn directly from one another, connect with more than 50 partner companies, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

We hope our experience can help partners as they begin their own AWS journey.👏

Can a valid API request still be part of an attack?

Login, registration, search, and payment APIs support normal service operations. But when these requests are repeated through automated tools, they can be used for credential stuffing, scraping, and other attacks.

A single request may look normal. The volume, speed, target, and behavior pattern often tell a different story.

Our latest tech blog explains how normal API functions can be abused and how the right rules for AWS WAF can provide a separate security layer against API attacks and malicious bots.

Hotel Wi-Fi may look routine, but the network behind it can be compromised.

Microsoft recently linked a campaign targeting hospitality Wi-Fi networks to Midnight Blizzard (APT29).

Attackers manipulated network traffic to redirect users to fake Microsoft 365 login pages and deliver malware through fake update prompts.

One thing is clear: a familiar network is not always a trusted one.

See how the attack works and what you can do to protect your connection.

Modern applications rely on APIs for almost everything.

That also makes APIs one of the most attractive targets for attackers.

Unlike traditional web pages, APIs expose business logic and exchange data directly, giving attackers more opportunities to exploit weak authentication, broken authorization, or excessive data exposure.

Our latest blog explores why APIs have become a primary attack surface, the risks organizations should pay attention to, and practical steps to strengthen API security.

Why should we block Anonymous IPs?

Detecting and blocking Anonymous IPs is an effective way for organizations across industries to reduce cyber risks and strengthen access control.

One approach is to use an IP reputation–based protection solution.

For AWS WAF users, managed rule groups offer a simple way to apply continuously updated security rules without building and maintaining them in-house.

Penta Security provides Cloudbric Managed Rules for AWS WAF – Anonymous IP Protection, a managed rule group available through the AWS Marketplace.

The rules are based on an Anonymous IP list that is continuously updated using IP reputation data collected and analyzed through Penta Security's Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI).

Cloudbric Managed Rules for AWS WAF – Anonymous IP Protection is available at the link below.
