being a successful content creator is hard and working in social media is hard — in any capacity not just as a social media manager.

let’s normalize understanding that just because you have a phone and can record and upload videos, it doesn’t make you a content creator or capable of working in social.

remember this when you try hiring us, when you ask to use our content for free, when you want us to promote your business for a discount, etc.

i see it all the time when it comes to posting to Instagram – you focus way to much of your attention on the wrong things.

you get annoyed and burned out, and stop being consistent or give up altogether.

but if you take the time to really understand what works, then you stop wasting time doing the wrong things and finally start seeing the results you intend to see.

when you’re educated on a subject, you are immune to click bait and misinformation.

why? because unless you’re famous, NO one cares about a day in YOUR life.

buuuuut, when you get specific about whose day in the life you’re documenting, it becomes relatable or relevant to that person who may be or wants to be in your situation.

the key here is to speak to YOUR audience. in the example above i mentioned myself as a “woman juggling a business and a 9-5 in Miami” if i want to appeal to that demographic. i would change it depending on who my target audience is.

for example, if i want to attract small business owners, i could change that headline to “DAY IN MY LIFE RUNNING A SOCIAL MEDIA AGENCY HELPING SMALL BUSINESSES” and in this instance i would also make the content more about the tasks that include my clients versus me.

i promise if you make this small shift, your content will resonate a lot more.
