Releasing what no longer serves in the energy of yesterday's Full Moon in Eclipse

Inspired by a friend whose life and business represent infinite hope, healing and potential. A friend who does her best to facilitate healing and growth. A friend my heart thinks is my sister. "Rise"
I do believe that someday we will overcome racism, hate and all the"isms" and phobias. That is what the painting "Rise" is all about. Like the Phoenix, no matter how many times Hate tries to destroy us, we will rise from those ashes with renewed youth and strength and power to heal in our tears!

Coming out of quarantine like...

About the art:
"Shine"
Healing feels like I'm always becoming and always emerging. Finding the courage to sit with myself in the dark & learn and grow and sometimes, if I'm very blessed, being able to hold space for friends and family as they make the same journeys.

"Shine" is about rising up renewed and stepping into your power. About growing in the "soft front (vulnerable & loving heart) and strong back (healthy boundaries & protecting what is precious)

The concept for this image began to form during a guided meditation on unicornwellnessstudio .com. It was equally inspired by lines in the song "Learn to Shine," by Erin Zindle: "I'm glad you kept me under your thumb* Cause I learned all my brightest secrets in that dark place* But I crawled out and I gave this voice a microphone* I crawled out and gave this broken heart a stage" And the scripture Song of Songs 8:5a "Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning on her lover?" The staff represents bravery, courageousness & authority to co-create with Creator, the Unicorn represents intuition, emotions & the soul. The color of her garments are the colors of the chakras "She is clothed with strength and dignity."

I'm not a mother. But I have one. I'm incredibly blessed that my parents support me, love me and continue to grow as parents and as people.

If Mother's day is difficult for you, for any or all of the reasons, I see you. I'm listening I'm here.

About the art:
"Mama in the Movement"
This painting started out as a photo my grandfather took of my mother during the Civil Rights Movement that began in America in the 1960s and continues still. In the picture I saw the wisdom, power, elegance and beauty of black women. Thank you, Mama. Thank you grandfather for capturing the moment. My art salutes yours.
