Can you spot these signs around town? It's been just over a year since I started Babin Architecture, and I couldn't be more excited about these projects currently under construction. I am grateful to work with great construction partners: , , Carrolton Construction, and Francioni Builders.

This might be the most unique property in the Money Hill Golf Course Neighborhood, but it came with a serious set of challenges. Take a peek behind the hood with me as we analyze the design.

First off, the property line of this site is.. well, odd. The buildable area is quite small compared to other lots in the neighborhood, and the angles make for a difficult layout. But the location is worth it, since the site has totally private views of the golf course and a nearby pond.

Additionally, the owners wanted a single story layout, which made fitting all of the program within the buildable area quite the task.

Everything about it is truly custom. It is tailored specifically to its surroundings - the way light paths through the interior, the intentional placement of glazing for maximum views, long overhangs for shading, and the owners' individual lifestyles are all considered in the design.

The result is a home that is completely bespoke, and wouldn't work anywhere else. Very excited to be working with Gremillion Homes to see this one come to life!

What do you do when you love your home but it can't accommodate your growing family? For these awesome clients in Arkansas, a comprehensive addition was the answer. The addition, which includes more living spaces, bedrooms, garage, and outdoor living, was designed to compliment the existing home's regionalist architecture.

How much does it cost to hire an architect? Fees can vary depending on the size, complexity, and scope of services the architect is offering, but they typically fall between 6-12 percent of the construction cost. The most common fee structure is based off of a percentage of the construction cost. While this is normal for commercial projects, residential is trending more towards the fixed fee method. There is numerous reasons for this, but it is mostly due to the rapid increase in construction costs over the past few years, making initial budgeting less reliable. There are always other creative methods to incorporate fees, such as the sweat equity method.

Just wrapped up Schematic Design on a renovation and addition to a beautiful home in Fayetteville, Arkansas!

Schematic Design is the first phase of the design process, where the vision for your project begins to take shape. After rounds of design meetings we will establish the first visual form of the project, which gets captured in a drawing package like the one shown here.

Fun fact: the existing home's design is heavily influenced by the regionalist architecture pioneered by Fay Jones, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright. The new addition is designed as a continuation of that architecture and will seamlessly provide the owners with more living area and functionality. Really excited about this one!
