Learning Beyond the Drawing Board

As the AMB2 Architecture’s two summer high-school interns head back to Jesuit and Mount Carmel to continue their academic studies, the studio thanks them for bringing their curiosity, energy, and willingness to learn this past summer. Their time in the office was about more than learning how to draw, design, or use architectural software—it was an introduction to what it means to run a professional practice.

They saw firsthand that architecture is built on relationships: listening to clients, communicating with contractors, coordinating with engineers, answering questions, solving problems, and—most importantly—following through.

They learned that a successful project isn’t just about having a great design. It is about responding when someone needs an answer, being prepared for the next conversation, taking responsibility for your work, and building trust with the people who help bring a project to life.

We hope they leave with a greater understanding that these lessons extend far beyond architecture. Good business is good communication. Good leadership is accountability. And good relationships are built by doing what you say you will do. We were happy to share a little of our world with you —and excited to see where you take what you learned.

We are honored to continue serving a local Catholic school and parish community that means so much to us..

AMB2 Architecture is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this local school and parish through the design of a new elevator addition—an important improvement that strengthens accessibility while supporting the school’s mission for generations to come.
There is something especially meaningful about designing for a community whose purpose extends far beyond a building. We are proud to help create environments where students can learn, grow, and deepen their faith—and even more grateful to play a small part in that mission.

It is a privilege to contribute to a place with such a lasting legacy—and we look forward to helping this community thrive for generations to come.

The AMB2 architecture studio took a field trip recently just two hours west of New Orleans for inspiration on its latest new construction design in Old Metairie.
Walking through Avery Island and the iconic Tabasco Factory, you’re reminded that architecture tells stories just as powerfully as the landscapes that surround it. The blend of industrial function, historic preservation, and connection to the natural environment creates a sense of authenticity that has endured for generations.
Traveling through Lafayette, Broussard, and New Iberia, the influence of French Acadian heritage is unmistakable. Steep rooflines designed for Louisiana’s climate, welcoming front porches, handcrafted details, cypress construction, and vibrant entertaining spaces all speak to a culture built on resilience, family, and community. These architectural traditions continue to inspire modern design by reminding us that great architecture should always respond to its environment while honoring its roots. Architecture is more than buildings—it’s a reflection of culture, history, and place and reflecting on these architectural elements to design a house that feels like home.
As architects, we don’t just study structures—we study the stories they preserve. Every region has a language of design, and South Louisiana speaks through its history, craftsmanship, and unmistakable sense of place.
Architecture is at its best when it reflects the people, traditions, and landscapes that shaped it. Keep an eye out for this latest design with endless analogies and connections to this part of Louisiana.

As architects, we know every project begins with a vision—but it is brought to life through patience, craftsmanship, collaboration, and faith in the process.
Today, on the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, we honor the patron saint of architects and builders. His journey reminds us that meaningful work is built on the courage to seek truth, ask questions, and ultimately trust in something greater than ourselves.
We are grateful for the opportunity to design places that enrich communities, foster connection, and stand the test of time. May St. Thomas inspire us to approach every project with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to serving others through thoughtful design.
Happy Feast of St. Thomas.
“My Lord and my God.” — John 20:28

This unique fanlike property lot is on a curved corner, anchored by a massive corner oak tree, creating a magnificent approach. Understanding the setbacks regulations for Orleans Parish zoning was critical. Our principal architect maximized the site’s potential while highlighting the circulation of the home. From the street, the floating stairs in the most pronounced volume is illuminated and connects visually to the rear yard.
A complete break away from the four square suburban home, this design represents strength in its volumes and materials, luminance in its transparency and lighting design and connection to nature balancing verticality with horizontal features, like branches on a tree.

Standing beneath the soaring vaults of La Sagrada Família two decades ago was an extraordinary full-circle moment for our Principal Architect, even as a work in progress. Even then, Antoni Gaudí’s vision was breathtaking—a living testament to faith expressed through architecture. The forest-like columns, the play of light through color, and the organic forms inspired by God’s creation revealed a design language unlike anything else in the world.
Witnessing through broadcast the recent blessing of the Tower of Jesus by the Pope, shows how much has been completed in just the last two decades is both humbling and inspiring. Seeing the basilica closer to the fulfillment of Gaudí’s vision reminds the studio that great works often require patience, perseverance, and generations of faithful hands committed to a purpose greater than themselves.
The recent recognition and celebration by the Pope adds another layer of significance. It is a powerful reminder that our talents, gifts, and professions are not merely for personal achievement but can be offered in service to something eternal.
La Sagrada Familia stands as more than an architectural marvel. It is a reflection of what can happen when creativity, craftsmanship, and faith are united for God’s glory. What began as a dream has become a testimony—one stone, one detail, one generation at a time.
As architects, builders, artists, and creators, may we remember that the work of our hands has the potential to point beyond ourselves and inspire others toward beauty, wonder, and the Creator who gave us these gifts.

Every site has a story. Great design begins by listening, observing the existing context and solar orientation.
