Indoor Air Quality is NOT complicated.
People make it complicated to sell you stuff.

Here’s the reality:

1️⃣ Moisture Control
If you have moisture issues, you will have IAQ issues. No exceptions.

2️⃣ Source Control
If it’s toxic, it doesn’t belong in the home.
You can’t eliminate everything—but you must mitigate it.

3️⃣ Effective Filtration
ALL the air in the home must be filtered.
This is not a 1" filter in a ceiling grille pretending to do something.

4️⃣ Controlled Ventilation
You need a mechanical, controlled means of outdoor air ventilation to dilute indoor pollutants.
Not random leakage. Not cracks. Not hope.

That’s it.
Do these four things correctly and you’ve addressed real indoor air quality.

Everything else—
UV lights, ionizers, plug-in gadgets, “air purifiers”…

I call them pseudo air purifiers.

Your money and resources are far better spent actually fixing the problems—
not treating symptoms.

It passed inspection.

Another $700,000 home given the all-clear by a home inspector — and another homeowner put at risk.

This homeowner was already ill from a previous mold-contaminated home. Because of that history, she specifically sought out a “mold-specialized” home inspector before purchasing this house. She was told there were only minor issues, that a remediation company could clean up a few spots, and she’d be good to go.

That couldn’t have been further from the truth.

As usual, once I stepped on site, the story changed very quickly.
Major system failures.
Severely contaminated HVAC systems.
Problematic assemblies.
Conditions that actively drive moisture and contamination through the home.

These are not things a surface-level inspection will ever catch.

If you are sick from a bad house and trying to purchase a “safe” one, do not rely on a basic home inspection — even one that claims to specialize in mold. That is not enough.

You need a building science practitioner who is:
• Deeply versed in construction methods and assemblies specific to your climate
• Highly competent in HVAC + Dehumidification installation, design and performance
• Experienced in identifying how building failures directly impact human health

A home can look clean, test “acceptable,” and still be making you sick.

Passing inspection does not mean the home is healthy.

Why Your Contractor Isn’t Building You a Healthy Home

There’s a massive disconnect in this industry. You’ve got architects, builders, tradesmen, energy raters, compliance testers, inspectors—and then the homeowner. The homeowner is the one who places all their faith in this circus of people, systems, and processes, believing it’ll all come together to deliver the healthiest, best home for their family.

But here’s the truth: it doesn’t. The fallacy lies in the disconnect. None of these players actually care about the home’s final state of wellness—whether it promotes health or sickness. Their job stops at checking the next box.

The builder, supposedly the conductor of this symphony, is usually the most ignorant of all. Most paid a few hundred bucks, passed a test, and suddenly think they’re qualified to oversee a complex, high-stakes process. Then they lean on “professional subs” who are just as happy to get in and get out as fast as possible.

Homeowners believe they can compare contractors like they compare cars, boats, or any other manufactured product. That’s the biggest mistake. Construction isn’t a factory. It’s the field. And in the real world, ex*****on—not paperwork, not brochures—decides whether a house becomes healthy and durable or a liability.

Yesterday, I walked an 1800’s gut renovation with a potential client. I was trying to impress on her the critical role of water and moisture control. But she had already heard plenty of contractors, friends, and “clean energy” consultants telling her she could just do this or that. She came from the energy-efficiency side of construction—so disconnected from the practical realities it’s scary.

She told me, “Well, if I get you or a 3rd party to design the system, I can get anyone to install it and be good to go.”
Wrong. Dead wrong. That’s the disconnect in a single sentence.

Anyone can hack together an HVAC system that blows hot and cold air. It doesn’t take following code, manufacturer instructions, or best practices to do that. In fact, I could slap a system in faster and cheaper than anyone and still make it “work.” That’s the scam of this industry—it’s built to reward cutting corners.

But I refuse to play that game. I’ve lived with the consequences of bad installs. I’ve seen the sickness, the mold, the ruined homes. I won’t do cheap, I won’t cut corners, and yes—I’ll be the most expensive HVAC contractor you talk to. Guaranteed.

And there’s a damn good reason for that. Because I’m not here to play the “apples-to-apples” game. I’ll design and build you a home—and a mechanical system—that guarantees moisture control, superior filtration, and true ventilation. A home that supports health and wellness, not sickness and disease.

I’ve been in this industry 25 years, and here’s the truth: I’ve never, not once, seen a house that meets minimum code. Not from production builders. Not from $20M custom homes. Not ever.

Massive duct leakage. No air sealing. Bathrooms vented into attics. 1-inch filters in ceiling grilles with bypass everywhere. Systems installed to “blow cold air,” not deliver healthy air. And inspectors? They’ll flag a missing locking cap while waving through a system that’s falling apart in every meaningful way.

And now we’ve got “authorities”, IEPs, consultants, mold inspectors, who’ve never once solved these problems in the field. They’ve never fixed a duct system, balanced air pressures, or stopped moisture intrusion. But they’re treated like the experts.

Here’s the difference: I’m not just a building science practitioner. I didn’t take a 2-day class to call myself a home inspector, or buy some meaningless certification and hang it on the wall. Yes, I have all the certs, but I also have 25 years of field experience, mechanical ability, wisdom, and personal experience to see what others can’t and actually solve problems they never could.

I’m a licensed GC and Mechanical Contractor. I don’t just diagnose, I design AND execute scopes that truly fix homes.

Healthy, durable homes don’t happen by accident. They happen when building science and accountability meet real-world ex*****on.
