🌳 August Calendar Spotlight: Carey Hammett Tree School

Our August Calendar Spotlight highlights the Carey Hammett Tree School, an annual event hosted by Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful at JPAS, that brings together arborists, landscape professionals, community leaders, and tree enthusiasts for a full day of education centered around the care and preservation of our urban canopy.

Now in its 26th year, Tree School is an opportunity to learn from industry experts, earn continuing education credits, and stay up to date on topics impacting our trees and landscapes.

Bayou Tree Service is proud to support programs like Tree School that encourage continued education and help build a healthier urban forest throughout Jefferson Parish and beyond.

Matt Repp and his Tree Health Care team are back at Tulane University completing a full inventory of the trees across campus! 🌳

They’re evaluating each tree’s health, structure and overall condition, while checking in on trees we’ve planted and others Bayou Tree Service has helped care for over the past 40 years.

This inventory gives Tulane a clear picture of its urban forest and helps our team & theirs plan for the pruning, treatments and long-term care each tree needs to continue thriving.

The trees of Audubon Park Golf Course are some of its most recognizable features. The course winds beneath a canopy of century old live oaks that provide shade, support wildlife and preserve the historic character of this special New Orleans landscape.

Caring for mature trees like these requires thoughtful, long term management. For over 30 years, Bayou Tree Service has been proud to serve Audubon Nature Institute, helping care for and preserve these irreplaceable trees while supporting the health of our city’s urban canopy.

These trees do much more than create a beautiful setting for the golf course. They help reduce heat, manage stormwater, improve air quality and provide valuable habitat throughout the park. Audubon Nature Institute’s commitment to protecting its trees ensures that this canopy can continue benefiting New Orleans for generations to come.

We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Audubon and honored to play a part in caring for one of New Orleans’ most recognizable canopies. 🌳⛳️

Emergency removal in Lakeview 🚨🌳

This massive live oak split, and the only thing holding it up and together was a few other limbs! After neighbors noticed it burning against the primary power lines, the City and Entergy were called, and our arborists Scott & Dave came out to assess & remove the hazard.

With the help of Big John and his crane, Crew 13 safely brought this massive live oak down. A huge team effort from start to finish!

Ever notice how much cooler a tree-lined street feels?

This week, take a walk or go for a run through one of Jefferson Parish’s neighborhoods like Airline Park, and pay attention to the difference. The canopy overhead doesn’t just make your route more beautiful, it helps cool the air, provides relief from the sun, and makes spending time outdoors more enjoyable.
