The most recent forge fire was lit not for a commission, nor for any grand relic.

This piece was forged for the sake of practice.

Within its iron are square bends, scrolling, collaring, and mortise-and-tenon joinery.. skills that any smith worth his weight in coal should know.

Not every hour at the anvil produces something meant for sale.

Some pieces are forged to keep the hand honest...

Fresh-cut timber has little story to tell. It takes patient hands before the wood begins to carry the look of something hauled through the old halls beneath the mountain and kept beside the forgefires of Grimhall for generations.

One of the quieter labors of the forge...
The old methods leave their mark in strange ways. Chainmail to burnish the grain smooth as river stone. Antler to work warmth into the timber. Even the wood’s own shavings returned to it during the process. Layer upon layer of dyes and oils, tested beside the forgefire through long trial and error, all in pursuit of that deep warmth carried by the relics of older days.

In the low glow of the forge, this piece first took its breath.

Hammered from raw stock into form… aye, but now the chisel speaks. Each line cut true moving this iron from common shape toward the relic it is destined to become.

This piece is sworn to the Grimhall relic chest. Not ornament… not trinket… but a warded thing, meant to bind and endure.

Many strikes yet remain, but the first mark is just the same as the last.

Not every piece forged in this hall was made for careful hands. There was a time when the work leaned more toward tools of war — heavy in the blade, rough in their finish, and built to endure hard use. This one was shaped in the manner of the Uruk-hai of old tales, where strength mattered more than grace, and the mark of the hammer was left plain to see.

It has long since found a home beyond these halls, carried out to serve its purpose. These days the forge turns more often to things that protect, hold, and endure — chests, fittings, and relics meant to last. Still, on rare occasion, the old work finds its way back to the anvil.

A full stretch of iron laid out after a long turn at the anvil. These hinges are only at their beginning — the forms drawn out, the barrels rolled, and the first shapes set in place. There is still work ahead in each of them as they find their glory... refinement, detail, and the final hand that gives them their character.

In time they will take their place on chests built to endure, carrying weight and keeping watch as they were meant to.

A new stone has been added to the foundation of the forge this year...

At the center of every true workshop stands the anvil, waiting in quiet patience for the fire to be lit and the work to begin. Iron will be drawn from the coals and brought here to be shaped with hammer and steady hand, just as it has been in the deep halls and mountain workshops of old.

From this place the craft endures — iron, timber, and patient hands bringing forth the works of the forge, fashioned in the spirit of the old smiths who came before. The fire burns, the tools are set, and the labor of the forge carries on.

Before oak meets iron and the hammer begins its work, every relic must first take shape in quieter ways.

The vaults and reliquaries of the old halls were not made without thought. Their forms were drawn, studied, and set down long before the first board was cut or the first band of iron was heated.

Some designs will remain only in these pages.

The embers never died… they merely smoldered beneath the ash, waiting to be stoked once more.

After a long silence, the fires of The Dwarven Forge burn anew. The hammer rings again, and with it begins a new era—one steeped in the old ways, where craft and myth walk hand in hand.

Artifacts shall rise from oak and ash.
Blades will bear names.
Each piece will hold a tale.
The Forge is lit.
The work begins.
The saga continues.
