The carpenter's shop had a collection of photos hung up with fishermen and cannery workers going about their day, or posing with their boats. One of the caretakers on site happily pointed out his fathers portrait along with an old picture of what is now his boat.

While walking through the old cannery, my friends and I were accompanied by a distant radio playing old songs from the 1940's and '50s, like something out of a post apocalyptic video game. We found the music's source in an old mechanics shop that looked like its employee had left for a break and not come back in decades.

I got to visit an old cannery in Naknek Alaska this summer. Who can resist a dilapidated old building on rotting pilings?

The Naknek river feeds into Bristol Bay which supports the largest sockeye salmon fishery in the world.

The last one in this series is ✨The Hermit🕯️! If you are in Los Angeles then stop by the keystone art space for the Divination opening! I hear there will be fortune-telling!
A few words about The Hermit portrait:

Morgan had just come out of her first winter living without roommates in Alaska. She was feeling connected to The Hermit card which symbolizes gathering knowledge on your journey, alone in the wilderness, and sharing your newfound wisdom. I spent a few weeks scouting the coastal cliffs of Juneau for an appropriate "end of the journey" sort of cliff and managed to borrow an antique lantern to symbolize that newfound wisdom.

My second tarot card submission was 🔮The Magician🪄:

Izzy had just pulled The Magician card that morning and we discussed how it fit with some elements of the photograph that I had already planned. The arm pose symbolizes "as above so below" and I had been planning to have her stand among some enormous fallen spruce trees. The roots and the forest above were the perfect accompaniment for my magician.

My favorite from this shoot. My boyfriend says it looks like something out of the Lord of the Rings which is the best kind of compliment you can give me.

said she was going for the "forest witch" kind of bridal look. I think she pulled it off.

I don't really shoot weddings but I had so much fun shooting with Cindy and just the lace part of her wedding dress.

We got up early and went to Nugget falls trail way before any tour buses arrived. It is pretty rare to have Nugget falls and Mendenhall glacier to yourself these days.

I figured I should end my little whale series with a tail. I love the first one with its intense color gradient as sunset light set in, but the tail is a little far away so I added the second close up of a tail. Which one do you like best?
