This Earth Day, we’re proud to support conservation through restoration projects that improve soil, water, and wildlife habitat. 🌎🌱

In this photo, we’re spreading a native grass blend for soil stabilization on a riparian stream repair project. This fall our tree seedlings will be incorporated — helping reduce erosion and to restore the waterway.

Projects like these play a vital role in rebuilding forests, restoring habitat, and creating healthier landscapes for future generations.

Mexican Plum (Prunus mexicana) has proven to be a challenging species to grow. Its seeds have a double dormancy that, in nature, often takes multiple years to overcome. As you can see in the background, germination is still somewhat spotty, but we’re very pleased with the percentage we’ve achieved so far.

This beautiful, drought-hardy tree is well suited for the landscape and well worth the effort.

4 weeks post planting and some of our oaks are starting to have full root capture! This is a prime example as to why root pruning is important. Without it, these roots would just continue to grow and choke each other out. Being root pruned, they will continue to branch and become more fibrous. This in turn aids in nutrient uptake and establishment after final planting! 🌱

It’s spring time and we are busy planting! We got our second load of seedling soil mixed up today. We will end up using 160 yards of mix for this year‘s crop. 🌱
