You know, I was talking to a guy the other day, and he told me he wanted a job where he could sit in a warm room and look at pictures on his computer all day. And I said to him, "Buddy, thatโs not a job. Thatโs just being alive in the 21st century."
We don't have that. We have docks.
Right now, we are winding down for the summer and just need a few part-time guys around Muskegon to help out. But once Labor Day hits, things slowly start ramping up. Then, the first real cold flash hits, and suddenly we are in a race against the calendar to get every single dock out of the water before the snow starts flying. Because nobody wants to be standing waist-deep in a frozen lake while a blizzard hits. It means a lot of long days. It is incredibly hard physical labor, and the water gets freezing cold.
Now, I do provide the wetsuits and the gear so you don't freeze to death out there, but if you like being warm, youโre still going to hate it. But if you want a massive amount of overtime when the rush hits, itโs a pretty good deal.
