Founded in 1987 by Mike McAlea—affectionately known as “Trim Man”—Tidewater Trim & Deck has been family-owned and operated for over three decades. What started with a passion for craftsmanship and a commitment to doing things the right way has grown into a trusted, full-service exterior construction company serving Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina. Mike has helped countless families bring their fencing, decking, and exterior projects to life with integrity, skill, and a personal touch. Though he has proudly passed the torch to his oldest son, Michael, you’ll still find Mike on job sites, connecting with customers and ensuring the standard of excellence he built remains strong. Michael began working alongside his dad at a young age, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of new construction and remodeling projects. Today, he leads the company’s day-to-day operations and is carrying forward the legacy of hands-on service, honest pricing, and top-tier workmanship. As a fully Licensed, Insured, and Bonded Virginia Class A Residential Building Contractor, Tidewater Trim & Deck is proud to offer custom decks, fencing, porches, and outdoor living solutions—with the experience to back it and the personal care you can only get from a family-run business.
