ing ordinary rocks (or, in my confusion, chunks of pavement) at the ground, hoping for a geode. None of them were, but it was good practice for smashing and cutting rocks later in life. When our kiddo had medical issues at a young age, we dealt with our stress by going to the local mine and chipping away at any rocks they had available for us to collect (most of them international). Again, I hoped to find a geode. And, suddenly, many times I did! And that's how we became lapidaries! Jon is a scientist while I'm more artsy and we love how lapidary work combines both. The thrill of opening a rock on the slab saw and finding something spectacular inside is what brings me back to my studio over and over. Here's to many more rocks and fossils and thrills,
