Took one honey super from one of our honey production hives early this year. Our honey is so floral. The whole shop smells like honey and flowers. Once this honey is out of the clarifier in a few days it will be bottled up and ready for sale soon. It tastes so good.

Walked out to the apiary around noon today and saw a bunch of bees in the air. One of our 5 frame hives is so full they decided to swarm. You can see the bees in the video starting to land ind this tree about 25 feet up. I was like well seeya later bees but about 15 minutes later they all came back to the hive. It’s what we call a practice swarm. Bees sometimes do that. So after they settled down I opened the hive and went through it frame by frame and I finally found the queen down in the third box. I put her in an empty hive with some brood and empty frames. Shook a bunch of nurse bees in with her so she has help. Nurse bees are house bees or bees that haven’t left the hive to forage. They will stay inside with her and any foragers will go back to the original hive. There was some swarm cells in the original hive so I removed all the small ones and left 3 huge cells for them to make a new queen. So when it’s all said and done, we have a new hive added to the apiary. Win win
