👋 Say hello to my latest obsession, Spotted Bee Balm.

🐝 As a member of the mint family, Spotted Bee Balm is a powerhouse for pollinators. This plant hosts 4 moth species and attracts a wide variety of pollinators like bumblebees and hummingbirds that consume the nectar.

🪴 Thriving in full-sun and dry soils, Spotted Bee Balm makes an excellent container plant and pairs well with Eastern Prickly Pear, Rough Blazing star, and Prairie Dropseed.

Plants bring people together.

Recently, I presented at Discovery Commons North Shore, Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Their garden club grows produce and flowers in containers that all residents can enjoy.

During the presentation, attendees learned about native plants and pollinators and the crucial roles they have in our environment.

They also had the chance to share their favorite memories and connections to plants and wildlife.

I’ll be returning to help install native container gardens that will attract pollinators and birds right to their windows. 🦋👀

🌵There’s cacti native to Wisconsin?!? You betcha!

Eastern Prickly Pear supports a variety of native bees that are attracted to the pollen and nectar of the flower.

It is also host plant to 2 moth species, the Arge Tiger Moth & Julia’s Dicymolomia Moth.

The pads and fruit are edible but beware of its thorns!

Now available at pollinatorpatios.com for local pickup & delivery.
