A little fall maintenance can help prevent a wildlife problem this winter 🍂🏡

As temperatures drop, mice, squirrels, raccoons and other animals begin looking for food and protected places to shelter.

Now is a good time to:
• Remove food sources from the yard
• Check sheds and garages for gaps
• Look for damage along the roofline
• Inspect the foundation and exterior vents
• Check beneath decks and porches

If you find a possible entry point, make sure nothing is living inside before closing it.

Inspect first. Seal only when the space is clear.

Swipe through our fall checklist, save it for your next yard cleanup and share it with another homeowner! 🦝🐾

A mouse problem in the attic can start all the way down at the foundation. 🐭

During this Minneapolis inspection, Sarah discovered hidden gaps around the home’s cinder block foundation. These openings can give mice access to exterior walls, where they climb insulation and travel into the attic to build nests.

Our team addresses the source by trenching along the foundation, installing heavy-gauge steel screening and sealing vulnerable gaps to create a durable barrier.

Traps may remove individual mice, but exclusion helps stop them from getting back inside. Visit https://www.skedaddlewildlife.com/location/minneapolis/mouse-removal/ to schedule a home assessment.

The spookiest sound this fall might not be part of your Halloween decorations 👻🐭

As temperatures drop, mice, bats, squirrels, raccoons and other wildlife begin looking for warm, protected places to shelter. Small openings around rooflines, vents, foundations and siding can give them a way into your home.

Marcus Mueller, owner of Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control in Milwaukee and Madison, recently joined a local audio news segment to explain what Wisconsin homeowners can do to help keep unexpected visitors outside this fall.

The best winter shelter for wildlife isn’t inside your home 🍂🏡

As temperatures drop, animals begin searching for warm, protected spaces. An unsecured roof vent can provide direct access to an attic, where wildlife may damage insulation, wiring and the surrounding structure.

Our technicians install durable screening that helps keep wildlife out while allowing the vent to continue doing its job.

A little prevention helps protect your home and encourages wildlife to find a safer shelter in nature. Contact Skedaddle to prepare your home for the colder months.

Cooler temperatures are arriving, and mouse season is heating up 🐭🍂

As the weather changes, mice begin searching for warm, protected places to shelter. Small gaps around foundations, siding, utility lines and garage doors can provide the access they need to get inside.

Traps may remove individual mice, but they don’t close the openings allowing more to enter. Skedaddle identifies those hidden entry points, removes the mice humanely and protects vulnerable areas against future activity.

Hearing scratching in the walls or finding droppings? Contact Skedaddle before a small mouse problem has time to grow.

Don’t let those little faces fool you. These young squirrels can cause more damage than homeowners might expect! 🐿️

Squirrels remain active throughout the fall and winter, searching for food and protected places to shelter. If they find access to an attic, they may chew wood, insulation and wiring or enlarge existing gaps to make moving in easier.

Because they won’t simply disappear when winter arrives, it’s important to address squirrel activity early. Contact Skedaddle for a humane removal and prevention plan.

Spring is here… and so is the rush for wildlife to find a place to move in. 🌱🏡🦨

It starts with small things—gaps under your deck, open spaces near your shed, or easy access to your roof. That’s all it takes for your backyard to become the perfect home.

Here’s the problem: Once wildlife settles in, they don’t leave. They build nests, cause damage, and create stress you didn’t expect.

And by the time you notice it…it’s already a much bigger issue.
The smarter move? Stop it before it starts.

When your property is properly inspected, sealed, and secured early in the season, you avoid the damage, the mess, and the risk altogether.

In this blog, we break down how to wildlife-proof your backyard the right way—before anything moves in.

Spring brings more wildlife activity. Protect your backyard early to prevent damage, nesting, and costly problems around your home.

Spring cleaning for you… nesting season for raccoons. 🏠🌷

While you're opening windows and planning your garden, mother raccoons are searching for warm, quiet places to raise their babies. And to them, your attic or chimney looks like the perfect nursery.

It starts with light scratching. Then comes thumping in the ceiling. By the time you notice, a whole family may have moved in. 🦝

Raccoons are smart, determined, and surprisingly strong. They can tear through weak vents, pry open soffits, and squeeze through small gaps you didn’t even know were there.

The good news? A few smart prevention steps now can save you from major stress later.

🏡✨ You just bought a brand-new home. Fresh paint. Clean floors. No history.
But what if you’re not the first one living there?

Hearing scratching in the attic of a new build can be a real shock. Most people think wildlife problems only happen in old houses. The truth? New homes often attract more animals than older ones.

Why? 🦝🐿️

Because construction clears trees, disturbs habitats, and leaves easy entry points. To wildlife, your new attic looks like a warm cave. Fresh landscaping feels like a buffet. And unfinished vents can act like open doors.

Urban wildlife adapts fast. And if they get in before you move in, they won’t leave on their own.
If you’re dealing with animals in new houses or want to prevent new construction wildlife problems, Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control in Milwaukee is ready to help — humanely and professionally.

Your home should feel brand new… not shared.

New homes can attract wildlife fast. Find out why animals enter new construction and how to protect your investment before damage starts.
