Architecture doesn't begin with construction.

It begins with asking better questions.

This cardboard model was built early in the design of a project to help us understand how the home should relate to the hillside, the neighboring properties and the relationship between inside and outside space.

Even with today's digital tools, there's still something powerful about holding a project in your hands.

Physical models reveal relationships, proportions, and opportunities that are easy to overlook on a computer screen.

For me, model building isn't about nostalgia.
It's another design tool that helps create better architecture.

A buddy of mine sent me a video about old Pizza Hut buildings being turned into completely new places.

One became a church.

One became a karaoke bar.

One became a dispensary.

Same familiar buildings. Completely different lives.

It made me think about how many brick-and-mortar businesses are closing right now, and how many buildings are being left behind. To some people, those spaces may look empty, dated, or no longer useful.

But I see possibility.

Every building has a story. It has structure. It has memory. It has a location. It has the potential to serve people again in a new way.

Sometimes the answer is not tearing something down.

Sometimes the answer is reimagining what is already there.

A closed restaurant could become a neighborhood market.

An old office could become a wellness studio.

A tired storefront could become the first location for someone’s dream business.

A vacant building could become the next place where people gather.

We’ve just wrapped a major tenant-improvement for Presidio Sport & Medicine in the heart of San Francisco

What we did: full tenant-improvement and interior build-out — with us as both Architect + GC.

From design sketches to finish-installation we curated every element: open & flexible training spaces, treatment zones, recovery amenities, and smart detailing that blends performance + comfort.

Möbius strip, reimagined as a cultural landmark.

This was my submission for the international competition to extend the Royal Library in Copenhagen. The continuous loop form allowed for radical programmatic adjacency—connecting spaces that would traditionally never touch. Reading rooms adjacent to archives. Public life woven through scholarly retreat.
Form met function. Concept met constraint. A formative project in every way.

Big progress at our Presidio Sport & Medicine remodel at 1162B Gorgas Ave in San Francisco!

-Framing inspection passed
-Electrical + HVAC nearly wrapped up
-Fire + alarm design in progress
-Drywall already going up in cleared areas

It’s always exciting when a project starts to shift from “construction site” to “finished space.” This one will soon be a much improved home for physical therapy, sports medicine, and recovery — right here in the Presidio.
