REMODEL SERIES | Part 2: Breathing New Life into Classic Spaces āØš” (Scroll to see the BEFORE! ā”ļø)
There is something incredibly rewarding about taking a home with great history and giving it the fresh, cohesive feel of a brand-new build.
So many established homes have solid bones, but over time they end up feeling closed off, dark, and fragmented by mismatched previous updates. For Part 2 of our tour, weāre looking at how thoughtful craftsmanship and the right foundational materials completely transformed the main living spaces:
The Transformation Details:
⢠Elevating the Flow: Widening the cased opening into the dining room and clearing the visual wall above the kitchen peninsula opened up lines of sight and let natural light pour across the entire floor plan.
⢠Seamless Grounding: Replacing uneven, patchwork flooringāfrom old terrazzo to dated laminateāwith continuous wood-look tile across the entire footprint. It creates an immediate sense of scale, stands up to everyday life, and feels beautifully cool underfoot.
⢠Intentional Lighting & Fresh Color: Recessed LED lighting combined with clean, warm neutral paint instantly lifted the ceilings and eliminated shadowed pockets.
⢠Refining the Character: We preserved the original charm of the brick fireplace and refreshed the full wall of built-in shelving, turning an outdated wall into a crisp, timeless focal point.
You don't always need new construction to get that airy, modern elegance. With quality finishes and an intentional plan, an older home can feel entirely new again.
