As we settle into winter and look ahead to new blossoms, we’re taking stock of everything planted in the fall to set the stage for spring. Late 2025 had us juggling a full slate—landscaping projects wrapping up alongside construction, while simultaneously expanding the food forest and core infrastructure at our nursery. They say the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. This team operates like it’s making up for lost time. More growth, more systems, more impact—2026 is going to show the compound interest of that work.

The 2025 Mid-South Circular Summit made one thing clear: momentum is built through action, not talk. We connected with partners who are reshaping how Memphis approaches waste, food systems, and local infrastructure. The work is already happening—and the opportunity now is to scale it with intention.

Huge thanks to Urban Earth for being an essential partner in helping Memphis Native Tree Works grow this year. From native tree and flower pop-ups across the city to providing nursery space and staff support for our first Christmas tree rental initiative, their collaboration made real impact possible. And thank you to everyone who showed up, planted native, and supported a healthier local ecosystem. This is what community-powered stewardship looks like. 🌱🌲

Field work meets restoration. 🌿 This week, our nursery manager Jeanette led the MNTW team out to Saulsberry, TN, where we collected native azalea cuttings straight from the wild. By studying plants in their natural habitat, we learn how to better care for and restore them here at home. Every trip strengthens our connection to the land and brings a little more of Tennessee’s native beauty back to Memphis.

Our community-led food project in the Medical District is thriving 🌱 From figs and apricots to apples and peaches, this corner continues to feed and inspire. Today we shared our regenerative initiatives, connected with neighbors, and added beauty with native plants and fresh paint. Together, we’re growing more than food—we’re growing community.

Downtown Memphis’ Pinch District teamed up with Street Fair Memphis and Memphis Native Tree Works to turn parking spaces into mini pop-up parks filled with fun and games. We brought the landscaping with native flowers like ironweed, magnolia, sneezeweed, and hydrangea. This is just the beginning—we’re planning more native plant installations across downtown.
