Several people have called asking me where the water shut-off valve is - first check your home inspection report. If BPG inspections did your report, look in the Full Report under the Plumbing section in the very beginning it will be listed and there may be photo. If there was an interior shut-off valve that was visible at the time of inspection it will be generally pictured and noted. Many homes do not have an interior shut-off valve (which by the way should ONLY be used in the event of an emergency). The outside shut-off valve is generally located near the sidewalk or street curb under a rectangular meter cover. FIND THE METER before you need it. You will need a water T valve key (pictured below) and if you don't have one now, you need one so check with your neighbors to see if they have one you can borrow if needed. If you have neither of these things, you can turn off the water at the water heater shut-off valve. Right is tight and Left is loose (righty tighty, lefty loosey) will help you remember. Post in NextDoor for help from your neighbors in times like this - most folks are incredibly helpful and nice especially in difficult times like this. Be a good friend and be kind to everyone!
