Huge shower, What's in it. Let me tell you. Building a huge shower. Huge, monster shower installation from studs to waterproofing using modern materials and traditional mud floor combined to create a waterproof shower. This shower has an area for a tub, the shower floor and main floor a both heated with radiant electric heat by Schluter Ditra Heat floor warming system. Wallboard used is a lightweight foam board by Laticrete Hydro Ban Board, used on the shower walls to create a water tight environment suitable for a shower. The very large shower floor was created with a level area where the tub will sit and a sloped area for the shower portion, sloped to a Schluter Vario linear drain. The floor was floated with deck mud and then covered with Ditra heat membrane for the heat wire element, then sealed with a sheet membrane as required in a wet area. A very large format 2'x4' porcelain tile will be used on the shower walls and a 12"x24" porcelain tile will be used on the shower floor. This video time lapse shows the entire installation from the studs and the waterproofing layer and the shower floor area including the heated shower floor. All tile installed by Sal DiBlasi, Elite-tile Company, in the Boston North Shore area.
