Did you know the first air-conditioned car required you to pull over, pop the hood, and disconnect a belt just to turn the AC off?

In 1939, the Packard Motor Car Company introduced the first automobile air conditioning system, cleverly named the "Weather Conditioner." While it was a luxurious breakthrough at the time, it wasn't exactly convenient. The massive unit took up half the trunk space and lacked a modern thermostat. If the cabin got too cold, the driver had to pull over to the side of the road, open the hood, and manually remove the drive belt running the compressor to stop the cooling!

Thankfully, climate control technology has become much easier and far more efficient since 1939, especially when it comes to your home.

You no longer have to work up a sweat just to adjust the temperature. Whether you need a smart thermostat upgrade, a routine system tune-up, or a highly efficient new installation, Edsel Heating and Air LLC brings you the best in modern comfort. As a Coleman Premier Dealer and proud Marthasville Chamber of Commerce Member, we make controlling your indoor climate as simple as pressing a button.

Did you know the first thermostat was invented by a frustrated school teacher?

Back in 1883, a Wisconsin professor named Warren Johnson was tired of his classroom constantly bouncing between freezing cold and sweltering hot. At the time, adjusting the heat meant sending a janitor down to the basement to manually open or close the furnace dampers.

To solve this, Johnson invented a device he called the "electric tele-thermoscope." This early thermostat read the room temperature and automatically rang a bell in the basement, signaling the janitor to adjust the furnace. Shortly after, he improved the design to adjust the dampers automatically without needing the janitor at all.

We've come a long way from ringing bells in the basement. Today's advanced thermostats can learn your schedule, be controlled from your smartphone, and help you save significantly on your energy bills.

Whether you are looking to upgrade to a modern smart thermostat or need to make sure your current heating system is ready for the cold weather, Edsel Heating and Air LLC is here to help. As a Coleman Premier Dealer with an A+ BBB Rating, you can trust us to keep your home perfectly balanced.

Did you know the modern air conditioner wasn't originally invented to keep people cool?

Back in 1902, a young engineer named Willis Carrier was trying to solve a frustrating problem for a Brooklyn printing plant. Fluctuating heat and high summer humidity were causing their magazine pages to wrinkle and ink colors to blur. Carrier designed a revolutionary system that pushed air over chilled coils to extract moisture, allowing him to control both the temperature and the indoor humidity.

While his invention was strictly designed to save paper and ink, it completely changed the way we live and work indoors.

Today, we rely on advanced versions of this brilliant engineering to keep our homes comfortable year-round. At Edsel Heating and Air LLC, we are proud to be a Coleman Premier Dealer, bringing you the best in modern climate control technology.

Whether you need a seasonal system check-up, repairs, or a high-efficiency upgrade, our team is ready to help.

Did you know the ancient Romans invented central heating over 2,000 years ago?

Long before modern furnaces, the Romans developed a brilliant engineering system called a "hypocaust." They built their stone floors on raised brick pillars and kept a continuous fire burning in a furnace room outside. The hot air and smoke would flow underneath the floors and rise up through hollow tiles built into the walls, warming the entire building evenly before escaping out the roof.

It was the world's first central heating system, primarily used to keep their famous public bathhouses and the villas of the wealthy perfectly comfortable during the winter.

While we fortunately no longer have to rely on wood fires burning under our floors, the desire for reliable, even heating remains exactly the same today.

As the temperatures start to drop this season, make sure your home's heating system is ready to keep you comfortable. For tune-ups, repairs, or new high-efficiency installations, trust your local experts at Edsel Heating and Air LLC.

Did you know the classic "summer blockbuster" exists because of air conditioning?

Back in the early 1920s, movie theaters were practically unbearable in the heat. To keep seats filled during the summer slump, theater owners became early adopters of modern air conditioning systems. They started painting giant, frosty icicle letters on their marquees reading "It’s 20° Cooler Inside!"

People flocked to the cinema not just for the movies, but to escape the brutal heat. Hollywood studios quickly caught on, saving their biggest, most entertaining films for summer release—and the modern summer blockbuster was born!

Technology has come a long way since the 1920s, but one thing hasn’t changed: reliable climate control makes all the difference for your comfort.

Whether you need a system tune-up, a quick repair, or an upgrade to keep your home comfortable in every season, Edsel Heating and Air LLC is here to help keep your indoor weather just right.
