🔧 iFix Friday: Your iPhone's Action Button!

That little button on the side of your iPhone can do a whole lot more than silence your phone!

Depending on how you customize it, the Action Button can:

🔦 Turn on your flashlight
📸 Open your camera
🎙️ Record a voice memo
🎵 Identify a song playing nearby
🌙 Activate a Focus mode
⚡ Run a custom Shortcut

And that's just the beginning!

Want to change what yours does?

Open Settings > Scroll down and tap Action Button > Swipe left or right to explore your options > Stop on the one you want. That's it!

Now, press and hold your Action Button to put it to work.

Do you know what the button on the side of your iPhone does?

If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, it’s called the Action Button, and it’s one of the most underused features on the phone. You can set it to open the flashlight or camera, start a voice memo, identify a song, translate, turn on Magnifier, or run a custom Shortcut.

To set it up, go to Settings > Action Button, swipe through the options, and choose your favorite. Press and hold the button to use it.

Guests asking for your Wi-Fi password? Here are two easy ways to handle it.

Share it with no typing: Have your guest tap your network name on their device. When the prompt appears on your unlocked iPhone, tap Share Password, then Done (screenshot 1).

Find it: Open the Settings app, tap Wi-Fi, select the blue "i" next to your network (screenshot 2), tap on the security dots and use Face ID to reveal it (screenshot 3).

For sharing to work, both devices need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, Personal Hotspot off, and each person needs the other’s phone number or Apple Account email saved in Contacts. Keep the devices close together.

Quick question: do you reuse the same password on more than one account? Most people do, and it's one of the easiest ways accounts get compromised.

The good news is your iPhone, iPad, and Mac already include a free app called Passwords. It autofills logins, alerts you to weak or reused passwords, and stores things like Wi-Fi passwords and passkeys.

iOS 27 is here. Here's what actually matters.

Siri can finally hold a real conversation. There's a slider to tone down the Liquid Glass look if it's not your thing. Apps open faster, AirDrop is quicker, and Photos got some genuinely useful new editing tools.

🔧 iFix Friday Tip: Here's one that surprises almost every client I visit. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services and scroll through the list of apps. What you find might catch you off guard. Apps set to Always that have no real reason to know where you are. Games tracking your location in the background. Shopping apps that haven't been opened in months still checking in. Your location is some of the most personal data on your phone and most people have never reviewed who has access to it. Changing anything set to Always over to While Using takes about two minutes and makes a real difference for both your privacy and your battery life.
