As this deck is being transformed, a closer look at the details is important.

Photos 1 & 2 show added stability blocking and leveling joists, which is important eliminate the composite decking boards from twisting.

Photo 3 shows Waterproof Protective Barrier Joist Tape to protect water damage on the top of the framing and around the decking fasteners for longevity.

Deck remodeling in Cottonwood is underway — removal of old deck boards and preparation for new composite decking.

Important piece is to check stability and spacing between joists to avoid future issues. Engineered Composite Lumber is heavier and requires more joists to prevent future boeing and/or snapping.
