First year seedlings have started to bloom, and this one is already becoming one of my favorites. This waterlily seedling is bright and cheery during the day, glowing in soft peachy tones, but by night it transforms into something dramatic as the underside of the petals reveal their darker side when the bloom cups inward. It almost feels like two completely different flowers in one. Really excited to watch this one unfold through the season.

2026 dahlia season has officially begun

This beauty is the very first to bloom from my seedling patch, grown from seeds I sowed on January 15. And she’s already showing off.

I’m still sowing (about 200 more to go!), but I’m honestly amazed the very first row is already lighting up with color. The magic is starting early this year
