Thank You Kim Guthrie for this one! My business is specializing in painting, glazing/distressing cabinets and furniture. I love helping homeowners with color and design when choosing what technique to go with! These days it gets so confusing as to what is what. I was a preschool teacher/childcare provider for 20 years so I have lots of patients and creativity to share with you! Hey friends, another beautiful kitchen makeover. Some might think that the before was just fine, but up close these cabinets were a manufactured whitewash finish that after 20 years had lots of wear and tear and chipping on them. They also had many fingernail dents and scratches from not having handles or k***s to open them. We chose White Dove in Satin. I used INSL-X cabinet coat, It’s a very durable paint but not the easiest to paint with. I hope this homeowner has many more happy meals with her family in her “new” kitchen. Next she will be refinishing the floors, new countertops and wall paint. But for now, she can enjoy her bright new cabinets. 💞

This house is in New Orleans. It was beautiful when they bought it but because of all of her attention to detail and thinking outside the box, it is now just absolutely amazing. The pictures are in order of this transformation, The before and after. My job was to make the new wood mantle not look out of place on the modern fireplace and make the wood look natural and to have it all blend with those crazy awesome doors on the sides. I painted the white area a creamy beige and then went to town doing my glazing thing with some gel stain. Took me back to my beginning years when I was glazing everything! lol Pictures do not do this justice. I added a picture at the end that my daughter Leslie Carlisle painted of the outside of the house.

I hope this transformation encourages you for when you are trying to decide whether to tear out your old cabinets or saving thousands of $$ by just cleaning them up and painting. These hinges were too difficult to find the exact ones that would fit so I used a metal spray paint to compliment the new k***s and handles. My work along with the new granite countertops gives this kitchen a new and a fresh look. Don’t be afraid to use dark colors, this is Hale Navy. Dark colors can add warmth in your room without causing it to look smaller.

When you live in the Deep South it can be challenging to paint anything exterior during the summer. If it’s too hot the paint can bubble and not adhere properly. This exterior door needed so much attention and TLC. The hot sun through the years had basically eaten the finish away. Here’s the hard part, taking it down to properly sand it and prep it was not an option due to heat and homeowner situation. I had to sand and prep in intervals early in the mornings. It took a few visits to make sure everything cured properly. We decided to go with a durable paint instead of a stain. The client wanted to keep the dark old world feel to keep with the aesthetics of the house. After lots of cleaning, sanding, priming and painting I think it is an amazing transformation, not perfect without flaws but has lots of character and the old world feel we were going for. The color used is Benjamin Moores Night Horizon.

Hey friends…I got a call to go back to the Bay Saint Louis Airbnb to do a few more touches to the house. They are working hard to get it to that coastal home feel. So this time out I did a couple pieces of furniture, the inside door, the exterior door, the shutters the mail box and light pole. Just painting simple things and moving around furniture and accessories can make all the difference. I don’t have a picture of the house with the shutters hung so that will come later. Luckily the kitchen area was big enough to set up a painting area for the shutters due to 100 degree heat and a monsoon. The color used on the doors, shutters, mailbox,pole and headboard is Mountain Sky blue. The accent table is a mixture of colors for the faux finish effect, Base of blue with a whitewash, glaze and gold. I also have a picture of the entertainment center all put back together that I had previously painted and shared.

I enjoyed painting at an Airbnb in Bay St Louis last week. I had never been downtown and it is so cute and interesting. I didn’t get to enjoy it so I will have to make plans to go back. I was hired to paint a couple of bedrooms and a tv/entertainment center. The bedrooms are “Feather Down” and the center is “Mountain Air Blue”. It still amazes me just what paint can do to bring a mood to a space.
