COMING SOON: Bulls Bay Nature & Heritage Festival is happening May 16! From bird identification and birds of prey flying demos to fishing, tea tasting and educational walks, this festival has a little something for everyone-- all with the goal of highlighting the cultural history and unique natural places and wildlife in the Bulls Bay community.
We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that SCFC Stewardship Forester Vaughan Spearman is leading one of the events-- the Edible Plant Walk!
From 9am to 11am May 16, join Vaughan in the search for edible native plants on parts of the South Tibwin Trail in the Francis Marion National Forest.
Over 40 species of edible plants have been discovered in the area! Plants include cattails, blackberries, blueberries, violet, muscadine grape, greenbriar, wild mustards and cresses, along with herbs like red bay and sweet pepperbush.
*Maximum 20 people. Register on site. Meet at South Tibwin Parking 11.7 miles north of Sewee Visitor Center. Bring a water bottle, snacks, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellant.
