Upgrading from a basic programmable timer to a WiFi-enabled smart timer has been so helpful!

I don’t have to monitor the ten day forecast before leaving for vacation hoping it’s right so I can set the watering schedule. If it’s unexpectedly hot (or cold), I can change watering without even being home.

Somehow my plants don’t care if I’m busy, traveling, or forgetful. 🤪 Having better control over irrigation helps keep them healthier while also conserving water by only watering when it’s actually needed.

If you’re already using drip irrigation, a smart timer is one of the easiest upgrades you can make!

Always happy to have butterflies in my garden! And it feels like this year I have more than ever before. Likely because I planted more flowers than ever before.

I’m excited to try this new variety that I’ve never grown before, hillbilly.

It’s a large heirloom beefsteak variety tomato. It will have yellow orange skin and red marbling. I can’t wait to show you what it looks like when it ripen. And of course to let you know the verdict on taste!

Love these Sungold tomatoes. They’re always the first tomatoes in my garden and they’re always the last to keep producing in the fall. They’re super tasty, but I will say that they are prone to splitting.

Cherry tomatoes, take less time until harvest than larger tomatoes so I will be enjoying these and my other cherry tomatoes until the larger tomatoes have a chance to ripen.

I’d love to hear about your favorite tomato varieties.

I love growing goldenberries. Not only are they perennial in my garden, but they also put out a lot of volunteers. Which means that I always have plenty of these plants grow growing.

I have also grown ground cherries, which are very similar, but in my opinion, the goldenberries are tastier. They are also large larger.

The last thing I’ll say about these plants is that they’re super low maintenance. I actually do absolutely nothing in terms of their care and they just give and give.

I’m so excited to see these blackberries producing so well. This is not a very sunny location in my house so it was an experiment to see whether I could grow berries here at all. We already harvested beautiful crop of berries a few weeks back and I’m thrilled to see that these plants are producing again and we should have some blackberries again before too long.

I do also grow blueberries. Blueberries unfortunately just produce one time per season so once it’s over, you have to wait until next year.

This is my Tahitian pomelo. It is a super super tasty fruit, the tastiest pomelo I’ve tried.

This is still a young tree, so I’m impressed it is able to hold so much fruit already. Citrus self thins so it has already dropped the fruit that it can’t support.

I’m a huge fan of growing citrus. And I have more trees than space to grow them in the ground. So I have several container grown citrus trees, and they do great!

Here I’m showing a key lime, Meyer lemon, Australian finger lime, and a kumquat tree.

What’s your favorite kind of citrus to grow?

So amazing seeing how these fig trees have grown. They were all started from cuttings.

I don’t have a fig specific protocol. I treat them like my citrus trees, and that seems to work pretty well. Now that they’re a bit bigger, I will learn if there are any tweaks they need to their growing care.
