Ever heard your A/C hum but never actually start? A weak capacitor is one of the most common reasons.

The capacitor is a small part that gives your compressor and fan motor the boost they need to start up and keep running. Months of triple digit heat wear them down, and when one fails, your system stops cooling.

In this video, our tech shuts off power at the disconnect, safely discharges the capacitor, and tests it with a meter to see if it still matches the rating on its label. Catching a weak capacitor early can save you from a bigger repair down the road. âš¡

Yesterday one of our technicians came across a unit that wasn't blowing any air. He found this very dirty filter and a failing blower motor. A severely restricted filter causes excessive blower motor strain which possibly caused the blower motor to fail. Please replace your filter. Or better yet schedule routine maintenance. It can save you from a costly repair!

Is your furnace or A/C getting up there in years? If one is on its way out, the other may not be far behind...

That's where a heat pump comes in. It handles your heating and cooling in one system, so you're replacing two pieces of equipment with just one and have less to maintain down the road. Heat pumps also qualify for Carrier rebates and federal tax credits, and in some cases California utility rebates, too. Pretty cool, right? 😎

As a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, we'll help you sort out which options fit your home and which incentives you qualify for. Swipe through to see how heat pumps work.
