The leaves are coming down, and they need somewhere to go. Cowlitz Valley Compost accepts leaves and other yard debris for disposal, so you can clear your yard this fall and keep it all out of the landfill. We turn it into compost.

Staff Spotlight: Love Is in the Air at Our Sister Company! 💍

This month, we're shining the spotlight on two members of our sister company, City Bark & Recycling, who have some extra celebrating to do. Kailei and Deven met at City Bark, fell in love, and on Saturday, October 3, they were married. Congratulations to you both!

Kailei is City Bark's Accounting Manager and has been part of the team for nine years. Deven is a Commercial Driver and has been with City Bark for four years.

A spotlight from our sister company, City Bark & Recycling: meet Chris Parsons, a CDL driver at their Vancouver location.

Chris says his favorite part of the job is the people and the experience. It keeps him active and engaged from day to day. And what don't most people realize about the work? "Sometimes you got get dirty!"

His most memorable moment on the job came from a customer, who gave him two "Atta Boy" shoutouts and a $100 gift card as a thank-you.

Outside of work, Chris has a green thumb for sweet peppers and corn, and he was a standout baseball player in his younger days.

His team in one word? "Togetherness." Thanks for all you do, Chris.

That's a wrap on Steel & Steam 2026! Who all made it out this past weekend?

There's something fitting about a weekend spent celebrating machines that ran on fire, water, and a whole lot of ingenuity. The newly expanded event in Lebanon delivered — steam engine tours, the Willow Creek mini train, rail bike rides powered by nothing but pedal strength, and creative fun in the Kids' Craft Caboose.

Our trucks are headed to the 33rd Annual Brooks Truck Show tomorrow, Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, OR. If you're in the area, stop by and see our equipment up close. Doors open at 10am, with Night Glow starting at 9pm.

Admission is $15 per day, kids 12 and under get in free.
