What is this spider?

Found this guy hanging out on my elephant ears and had to figure out what I was looking at.

It appears to be a golden silk orb-weaver, a native Southeast spider that helps catch insects.

Definitely not the kind of garden visitor I expected to find… but I’ll take free pest control.

My fall garden is already waking up!
Just a few days after sowing, the Mesclun Gourmet Greens and Dwarf Blue Curled Kale are already popping up.

Now the real test begins…

Follow along to see how this fall garden turns out.

🍑 Peach Tree Final Harvest!

The final peaches are officially off the tree!

Most of the remaining peaches actually fell into the grow bag on their own, and I picked the last 9 peaches that were still hanging on.

There are officially NO MORE PEACHES LEFT on the tree.

After following this tree all season, it’s definitely bittersweet seeing the harvest come to an end; but I’m really happy with how many peaches this tree produced.

Peach season is officially complete.

Now we wait for next year!

Fall Garden Prep #3

Another grow bag is officially planted!

This time I’m sowing Swiss Chard Rainbow Blend directly into a freshly prepared grow bag.

I’m especially excited to see what colors come up once these start growing.

So far for the fall garden:

Dwarf Blue Curled Kale

Which fall crop should I plant next?

🫑 Bell Peppers Update #3

FINALLY! After waiting and seeing no new peppers for a while, I spotted a small green bell pepper forming on one of my plants. 🌱🫑

The red bell pepper plant, however…

Still nothing. 😂

Both plants are still green and growing, so I’m keeping them going and seeing what happens.

Now I’m just hoping this little pepper makes it all the way to harvest!

Would you keep waiting on the red pepper plant or give up on it?

Fall Garden Prep #2

Another grow bag is ready for fall!

This time I’m sowing Dwarf Blue Curled Kale directly into a freshly prepared grow bag.

This is my second fall crop going in, and I’m excited to see how this one performs.

Seeds are in. Watered in. Now we wait.

Kale growers, how does Dwarf Blue Curled perform for you?

🍑 Peach Harvest #2!

I picked 11 more Harvester peaches from the tree today, and there are STILL more left!

After protecting these from pests and watching them develop all season, it’s crazy seeing the harvest finally add up.

And of course, I had to cut one open. 😋🍑

How many more peaches do you think are left on this tree?

Fall garden prep has officially begun!

The zucchini grow bag has reached the end of its season, so instead of letting the bag sit empty, I’m giving it a refresh and putting it back to work.

First up: Mesclun Gourmet Greens. 🥬

Seeds are in. Now let’s see how this grow bag performs for the fall garden.

Think I’ll actually get a full harvest from this bag? 👀

Watermelon update!

One of my watermelon grow bags has absolutely exploded with vine growth lately, and now I’m seeing small new melons forming!

Meanwhile, the other grow bag is still working on the two melons from my last update — and they’re getting noticeably bigger. 👀🍉

These plants are definitely making a late-season push. Now I’m just hoping they have enough time to finish! 🤞🏽

Which bag do you think will produce the biggest watermelon? 🍉

The zucchini plant has officially reached the end of its run, so I’m reconstructing the grow bag and getting it ready for fall planting.

Not every crop is a win, but every season teaches me something.

Now it’s time to turn this bag into the next experiment.
