"What's your Maryland Tree Expert License number?"

The state has required it since 1945. It exists because getting tree work wrong near a house, a fence, or a power line costs a lot more than the job itself. Plenty of people working in Maryland right now don't have one.

7:40am, she called us before she called her insurance company. That's not something people usually admit, but when a tree is sitting on your roof, the order of phone calls says everything about what you actually need in that moment.

That's not a scare tactic. It's what the paperwork says once the insurer digs in and finds out the work was done by someone unlicensed.
