A Liberty Landmark Gets a Major Transformation 🔄✨
The former Frevert True Value at 409 S. 291 Highway is being reimagined. This iconic hardware store—a Liberty fixture for nearly 60 years—is getting a complete adaptive reuse transformation, becoming a vibrant, modern commercial hub.
What's Happening:
The 7,000 SF building is being divided into four leasable commercial tenant spaces. Demo is complete, new storefronts are cut, and construction is moving fast!
Two spaces are already leased:
🍕 Little Caesars Pizza – Coming soon
☕ Scooter's Coffee – Coming soon (with a new drive-thru window!)
The Challenge & The Solution:
Built around 1966, this building features a unique metal structural system where the walls, ceiling, and roof all function as load-bearing components. Rather than demolish, we designed a new façade that preserves the existing structure while creating an entirely new architectural presence.
A completely redesigned street-facing façade modernizes the building's curb appeal along 291 Highway. We added new exterior materials, updated storefronts, and expanded the parking lot with new accessible spaces, sidewalks, and landscaping to support Liberty's pedestrian connectivity efforts.
Inside, we added new electrical and plumbing infrastructure to support multiple tenants and created flexible spaces that can be customized for future retail, restaurant, or commercial uses.
Leasing Opportunities:
Approximately 1,600–3,500 SF of leasable space remains available. Interested in learning more? Contact Jayme Miller at 816-261-2002.
Why This Matters:
This project is adaptive reuse done right—breathing new life into a recognizable Liberty property while creating modern commercial space for multiple tenants. It's an investment in Liberty's future.
A3G Architects is proud to have designed this transformation, partnering with Axis Construction and the property owner to reimagine this Liberty landmark.
