Because aluminum and soft metals dent much easier than shingles, adjusters use them as “collateral evidence” for hail damage.
On the shingles, it must be a spot where the hail broke through the shingle’s protective granule layer and bruised or cracked the fiberglass mat underneath.

While code allows shingles down to 2:12, some manufacturers will void their wind or wind-driven rain warranties on slopes under 4:12 if their specific low-slope installation guidelines are not followed to the letter. During the walk-roof inspection, we pay close attention to the sidewalls and dormers. High wind gusts can pry loose boards away if they weren’t blind-nailed perfectly, or if water historically softened the wall sheathing beneath them.

Our fascia trim is custom-bent on a brake and installed over the wood sub-fascia. The bottom lip of the fascia wrap bends inward at a 90-degree angle to hook and tuck over the outer edge of the soffit panel, cleanly locking it into place. A frieze board (under the soffit) is customized to be seen or not, homeowners choice.
Never nail fascia metal too tightly; it needs to expand and contract in the heat, or it will buckle and look wavy.
