This exciting recognition celebrates a transformative project that expands critical care, surgical capacity, and patient-centered spaces in the heart of downtown Louisville. Constructed with incredible care on an active medical campus, the West Tower is a major milestone for UofL Health and the community it serves.

JRA Architects’ Mike Nett and Wehr Constructors’ Chris Smyth recently presented in Arizona on Design-Construction-Budget: Alignment Through Structured Collaboration and Planned Continuity, sharing lessons from the UofL Health West Tower Addition.

Their presentation highlighted the value of early alignment, open communication, and continuity between the design and construction teams—especially on complex healthcare projects where budget, schedule, phasing, and patient care all have to work together.

We’re proud to see this project represented on a broader stage and grateful for the strong collaboration between JRA, Wehr, and UofL Health.
