This custom piece gives you a substantial solid-wood centerpiece with full hidden storage beneath the top. The paneled sides, deep warm finish, and reinforced lid give it the character of an old-world storage chest without feeling out of place in a modern living room.

Furniture should do more than fill a space. It should belong there.

Custom Barn Doors | Installed

From the original French doors to a completely different look.

We removed the existing French doors and decorative casing, then rebuilt the opening with clean, flat 1×4 trim to simplify the lines and work properly behind the new barn doors.

The doors were custom built from Knotty Alder, lightly distressed and finished in a layered weathered gray-brown tone to complement the existing wood-look flooring.

Finished with a full-length matching header, black steel barn-door hardware, recessed pulls on the reverse, and matching black handles.

Designed, built, finished, and installed by Origin of Dreams Construction LLC.

Custom Knotty Alder barn doors complete.

Built from solid lumber, lightly distressed, then layered with Weathered Oak, Slate and selective toning to create the aged gray-brown finish. Finished with matte black hardware and our brass Origin of Dreams medallion.

Built for a home in Justin, Texas.

BARN DOOR PROGRESS

Getting close on this set.

The goal wasn’t one stain color. It took multiple layers of stain, applied selectively, to build the weathered look from the original concept while still allowing the natural character of the wood to show through.

Gray, warm wood tones, sun-bleached highlights, darker grain. Each layer adds depth without making the finish look painted or uniform.

Tomorrow: final light sand, clear coat, brass maker’s mark, and fitting the handles.

Then these are ready for installation.

A pair of custom Knotty Alder barn doors taking shape in the shop for Nicole Nasca’s home.

Built from solid stock with wide perimeter frames and individually fitted horizontal shiplap boards. The wood has been lightly distressed, keeping the character natural and understated rather than overly rustic.

Next comes the layered weathered brown and grey finish, followed by the black barn door hardware.

After weeks of long days, late nights, and constantly building, creating and solving problems, sometimes you need to switch everything off.

For me, it’s the lake.

The rods are out. The sun is going down. The water has its own rhythm, almost like music, and slowly the noise in your head disappears.

No deadlines. No saws. No phone calls. Just water, sunset and a little time to reset.

Sometimes you don’t realize how tired you are until everything finally becomes quiet.

This is my reset. Jah knows.

After a long stretch of work, long days, late nights, and a mind that never really seems to switch off, sometimes you have to walk away for a little while.

So this weekend, this is where I’m resetting.

A chair by the water. Fishing rods in the sand. Music playing quietly. Nothing complicated.

There’s something about being at the lake that changes everything. The sound of the water becomes its own kind of music. The noise in your head slowly disappears. Your breathing slows down, your thoughts settle, and for a little while, nothing is demanding anything from you.

You just sit there and watch the sun disappear across the water.

And somewhere between the sound of the waves and the last light of the day, your entire being starts to reset.

Sometimes peace really is that simple.
